Alex Pereira, TKO, R4
The Rude Awakening is going to be heavy for Adesanya fans and MMA Media who have tried to push the narrative: Come On! Poatan was lucky? 3-0 but it was all luck hahahah. Pereira proved to have a perfect strategy to nullify Adesanya standing up working with leg kicks (including blocking Israel's leg kicks) from and body shots, unlike all of Adesanya's opponents in the UFC (with the exception of Whittaker who attempted to rush unsuccessfully in the UFC). first fight) Poatan was not afraid of counters, besides he had no size disadvantages and always knew how to go straight forward. Alex won he was winning the first round before the punches that hurt him right with the bell. Poatan wins the second round and in the third Alex was in the bottom position because he missed a trip, the fourth round was even although in my opinion Alex showed a great takedown defense and hit the better shots. In my opinion the fight was 38-38 or even though Adesanya 3-1 in round doesn't seem unreasonable to me, that is if Adesanya's alleged technical mastery is a stupid argument, Poatan had the upper hand but a last second punch in the first round and failed takedown at the start of the third round had Adesanya up by a slight margin. Regarding the prognosis, this fight will be less complicated for Alex Pereira, he now knows the weapons that Israel Adesanya has in MMA, he already had 5 rounds to evolve and his first strategy proved to be very effective. Just as in my opinion Adesanya trusted himself and did not prepare himself in the best way to fight in the Light Heavyweights to try to be Champ-Champ, it seems to me that he did not have the time and procedures to prepare correctly for the fourth fight (and Coach Eugene seems to be aware of this, because it was something that came up at Media Day), Many people say that on this occasion Adesanya is going to look for takedowns and he's going to outwrestler Poatan because Pereira's TDD is supposed to be garbage bucause he's a kickboxer (good thing it could be that his TDD is bad, but I don't think Adesanya has the wrestling skills to take advantage of this either) plus a wrestling heavy gameplan seems like a bad idea to me on the part of his corner, Adesanya is a kickboxer who made the transition to MMA, but obviously if he tries shoot after shoot, scramble after scramble he's going to run out fast because he's not used to that pace and it's not what Same as grappling when you're a wrestler or trying it when you're a striker (your energy distribution won't be the same). In my opinion the fight will be very similar to the first one in MMA, Adesanya trying to win with striking in the distance and Poatan working to get a stoppage in the second half of the fight, but in my opinion the KO this time will be more forceful and earlier. I pick Poatan to win the 4 Fight by a 4 round KO in the beginning of the round.
Burns vs. Masvidal
Gilbert Burns, TKO, R1
It is incredible how undervalued Durinho (MMA Media gave Masvidal a considerable chance for the upset in this matchup only because he's a big draw in PPV sales) ,taking into account that he is a BJJ World Champion who also has real KO Power and many people downplay him because he was knocked out by Dan Hooker in Lightweight because he was knocked down by Usman's Jabs (and everyone forgets that Burns nearly knocked out Usman in the first round). Masvidal is not the same as in 2019 and age is the main factor in this regard. If Masvidal fails to do something great in the first 3 minutes of the fight, I don't see how he can beat Durinho. Something tells me that unlike his fight against Magny, Durinho is not going to come out and take the fight to the ground quickly and may put himself at risk if he looks to trade wild early on with Masvidal. But I think that after the brutal KO loss against Usman, Masvidal's absorption of strikes is not the same, obviously pillow fist Covington was not going to stop Masvidal with striking but Durinho with left hook can put Masvidal out cold or drop him badly to finish with ground and pound or club and sub.
Font vs. Yanez
Rob Font, DEC
Costa piece and hurts Yanez with straight punches and jabs before getting tired and stopped with the shots to the noise, Grant also did a good job with punches to the chest and leg kicks. If Font avoids Yanez's big punches he can win with his great volume and excellent jab and one-two combinations.
Gastelum vs. Curtis
Kelvin Gastelum, DEC
Curtis is a slow-starter and Gastelum has granite chin, I have no doubt that Gastelum will be the most active in round 1 and I also don't doubt that Curtis will close the fight with a strong pace, whoever wins the second round will take the fight and both have a similar level with respect to the striking techniques although the endurance and punch absorption is on the side of Gastelum
Hughes vs. Amorim
Jaqueline Amorim, SUB, R1
Amorim has a really good level of BJJ, while Hughes is a punching bag standing and her greatest strength is his wrestling. The point is that wrestling, if a good submission defense is very dangerous against an opponent like Amorim, I see the Brazilian winning by submission, it can be an arm-triangle choke if she takes Hughes to the ground or an armbar from bottom position or triangle choke If Hughes tries too much to use her wrestling.
