Curtis Blaydes, TKO, R3
This matchmaking is atrocious and it would simply be illogical to pick Daukaus here. He's a great fighter, but he's done nothing to deserve a second main event in a row against Curtis Blaydes. Chris has a few solid wins over Olenik and Abdurakhimov, but his loss to Lewis proved he needed a step-down and more time to develop. Curtis has beaten so many top 10 heavyweights, and he is in a very odd position having lost to Ngannou twice and losing to Derrick Lewis. Nothing Daukaus has done proves he can defend a takedown, especially one from one of the best heavyweight wrestlers in Blaydes. Curtis should win outside of some rocky moments on the feet, and he should drown Chris to a 3rd round TKO using ground and pound.
Waterson vs. Ribas
Michelle Waterson, DEC
I feel like people underestimate Michelle Waterson. Ribas is a great fighter, but Waterson has more experience at a championship level. They both have tremendous grappling, and Waterson has the creative striking and cage IQ to her advantage. This is a close fight, but I lean Waterson to get it done in a much needed win. Waterson always makes a good account of herself win or lose, and I think Ribas is a great dance partner for her.
Magny vs. Griffin
Neil Magny, SUB, R2
Once again on this card, terrible matchmaking. Neil Magny has been on fire as of late, with wins over Li Jingliang, the remains of Robbie Lawler and Geoff Neal. I understand he lost to Michael Chiesa in a main event a while back, but what has Max Griffin done to deserve this fight? His best win lately was over an entirely washed up Carlos Condit in a CLOSE fight. Aside from that, Magny smothers people with crisp volume striking and mauling grappling pressure. Griffin doesn't bode well with any of that.
