Seeing his weight being 135 yesterday made me a lot more confident in him. Not only is he in great shape but he’s not going to cut a ridiculous amount of weight for weigh ins

I’m also hoping training with cejudo and albarracin helps improve his tdd cuz it’s awful

I think he realized that his conditioning was the biggest issue in the last fight. Cejudo's team has him on the same workout/supplement regiment as prime CCC so I'm not surprised he looks better this time than he did when he was just winging it in Brazil and doing his best while also trying to expand his gym business.

and on the other side of the same coin, I worry that Moreno has been pulled in too many directions since winning the title. Many times we've seen fighters get distracted by too many media obligations and their training and conditioning suffers. Moreno has been doing commercials, Spanish language commentary, meet and greets, etc.

I’m expecting the best of both versions this fight. I feel like it’s gonna be another classic. I also feel like figgy has made ample changes to perform at his best.

What was Figgy's excuse in the rematch?
He looked straight-up awful, and it seemed like Moreno was the one who picked up and made adjustments from the first fight. If Figgy is coming in leaner, it also will partially negate his biggest asset, his early power and size. He's never really been a fighter that wins long wars (I know their first fight was a war), and to me it just looked like Moreno is the better grappler/BJJ, and he also is extremely difficult to finish (only ever been finished by Pantoja/submission I think?) . It just feels like Moreno has more ways to win this fight.
*I know most have said 'oh he was timid because he didn't want to gas out', I think they even said something similar on the broadcast. Maybe that was true, but to me he just looked flustered and had no game plan.

I don’t think there was an excuse in the rematch. At least I didn’t see him saying anything on his end, but, it was pretty obvious he was compromised by the weight cut because he didn’t throw anything. I don’t think coming in smaller will really do anything because losing weight does not mean you lose strength (at least if you’re doing it right which I’m sure he is). Coming in lighter will help his gas tank and maybe his speed. Also think about it, if he knows he’s not worried about gas tank anymore then his confidence and willingness to let his hands fly will be back. His bjj is solid but he’s always had horrible tdd. I would say Moreno has better bjj but figgy is competent in his own right; Moreno is definitely the better wrestler tho, he’s pretty much had his way with takedowns in both fights. Doesn’t really say a ton because figgy is quite easy to takedown. Will be interesting to see how it has changed after training with Jones, cejudo, and albarracin tho as they are all great wrestlers

Yeah I hear you. Maybe I'm just developing a bias against fighters that work with Wallid Ismail lol. They always have excuses (even though I will always love Costa, just hilarious) and have burned me in the past. I know people on here may not equate it to much, but Moreno going out to San Diego and working with Canelo/Eddy Reynoso counts too. I'm a boxing guy at heart so maybe I'm biased, but even 1 day working with a group like that can have significant improvements on your striking (Often wished more MMA fighters would work with serious boxing trainers, I know Kattar did and you can just see it).

That’s definitely true I just think the changes figgy is making will show a massive improvement. Now this is just because the bar was set so low in the rematch that he didn’t even look like he belonged in there. I mean watching that fight he looked like anyone could have beaten him that night. So I feel like he’s gonna look much better. I still need to see him weigh in but he’s only gonna be cutting 10 pounds so he should be fine

Tom Aspinall is another one. He worked with Fury's camp for some time. Technically was a pro boxer for a short time, too.

Not sure if Figgy stated that he had a bad weight cut, or sickness, but it was immediately clear from the way he was moving, his stance, and how he was conducting himself in the cage that something was off. I turned to my friend 15 seconds into round 1 and said "Figgy is sick or something, he's not going to win this fight."
