Cannonier vs. Brunson
Derek Brunson, DEC
You have to respect Brunson for staying busy even though he deserves a shot. I'm done counting him out, man. The guy is so good and has made the necessary adjustments. Jared is no joke and can win this fight but the only two I see beating Brunson are Adesanya and Whittaker.

I think whitteker takes this one. I thi I instead of looking for the big punch, hes going to stay on his bike and land going backwards and taking a 50-45 dec. Not sure if it'll be pretty but I pretty sure the reaper gets revenge.

Ehhhh....I dunno about whittaker here. He's pretty much my favourite fighter but unless he drastically and totally alters his gameplan, it will just go the same way. He's also said multiple times that he didn't enjoy being champion and it wasn't good for his mental health.

@JP for the same reason people don't throw away Franklin Mint ornaments and commemorative plates: They overpaid for Dogwater and just have to hope that one day it will miraculously be worth something.

It makes sense, but you'd hope the UFC would have even the slightest amount of human decency. Obviously this is never going to happen, but still

It's a corporation. Corporations have no other function or objective other than to increase growth and increase net returns for themselves and shareholders. That's pretty much it. If they were any different, they would either fail, or be not for profits. They will only push ethics and morality if these have some kind of market value which exceeds the complications and losses incurred by ignoring them. Hardy was convicted of domestic violence, but the PR fallout isn't significant enough to offset the profits he will bring to the promotion--especially since they have to claw back what they paid/are paying for him, so he will continue to fight. And Jones...well, we don't need to go over Jones, but it's the same deal.

Oh yeah I absolutely agree corporations are a deeply negative force on society. The UFC have no real incentive to actually improve anything about themselves or the product, and without any real competition we're saddled with them for the long term. God help us all.

It's complicated. You can just about bet your bottom dollar that once a company goes public, with some rare exceptions, the quality of whatever they produce or the service they provide is going to decline, especially if there's institutional investment. Most of this is just down to eggheads in the finance department running equations and  working out where they can shave off or skimp off in production costs down to decimal points, because although this doesn't do much in the short term in way of profits, and will probably harm the brand long-term, it looks good on earning reports which attracts more investment. Mostly ma n pa retailer investors who don't know any better.

However, stuff needs to get done, stuff needs to get made, and somebody has to do it. Even a samana living under a Banyan tree with nought to his name but a begging bowl is dependent on somebody, somewhere, for something. Things go awry when we allow these companies to lobby the legislature and grant them the same rights as living individuals, whilst at the same time absolving them of the legal responsibilities individuals have. That's kind of where we are now.

Never any easy solution is there. The UFC is undeniably the best promotion, but that's not difficult when the only real competition is Bellator (inept) and ONE (also inept), maybe if they had more good fighters, but I'm not holding my breath. There's no way to hold any of these guys to account for how they treat fighters and fans, you can't even vote with your wallet, if you're going to stop watching the UFC you might as well stop watching MMA.

It's too bad that ACA is somehow even more morally bankrupt than the UFC, because they're probably at least equal with Bellator in terms of fighter quality

ACA is so cursed. It could probably be very good if it wasn't run by Kadyrov. Do MMA fans just not deserve nice things lol? Cage Warriors isn't that bad, for regional MMA at least.

Cage Warriors has been great, I'm glad they're done with their trilogies now though because it was a little oversaturated for that weekend and then you wouldn't see them again for a while. Brave has probably been my top regional promotion to watch recently but even then you have to deal with the announcers constantly kissing the Bahraini monarchy's ass

I haven't watched that much regional MMA, but I'll have to check Brave out some time. I'll just mute it so I don't have to listen to the commentary, I do it with the UFC most of the time anyway.
