Evloev vs Topuria

Predictions: 4 of 8 Winners, 0 Perfect, 215 Points   |   Tied for 3800th

Absolutely terrible matchmaking by UFC, you cant put a fight against 2 prospects each other. No matter who loses they will come back like Tsarukyan is doing in 155lb division.

Anyways, Evloev's "0" will not go anywhere. He will retire as undefeated for sure. I mean who the **** escapes chockes, gulloutine and a perfectly executed armbar in M1 grand?

"KHAMZAT CHIMAEV" will be double champ holding 170lb and 185lb belts...

Who gives a ****? This isn’t boxing where your prized 0 means everything. The featherweight division’s top 15 barely fights as it is, so they need to move the division along. Just enjoy the fight and know that both of these guys will likely meet down the road for a belt

Whoever wins between Evloev and Topuria is getting the "future champion" tag from everyone unless it's just a dog**** fight.

its championship league, you want to be the best, you gotta fight the best, stop with this prospect matches ********, might be unfortunate, but it is what it is, just like someone said before me, this isnt boxing, and if they both represent certain level, them giving fotn is even better than winning against some chinese guy who got to ufc by accident..
they won't lose any credit if either of them lose, under one condition, must show what they are capable of. Losing ufc might be not as bad as losing boxing fight. You got a lot of examples - Sandhangen giving good fight against TJ - getting interim belt fight, Gamrot losing ufc debut, but fight was even and fotn, - getting 11st ranked guy in 4th ufc fight, bonuses and the way you fight matter

exactly. Its all about performance and competition; not like boxing where you can crush to 20-0, then fight a real opponent. If you have hype in MMA, you are going to be fighting the best possible competition the second you get noticed.

I'll play devil's advocate here:

So we all want to see the best fight the best. That goes without saying. However, the best fighting the best before the best have properly maturated as fighters has downsides, and associated risks.

Firstly, they haven't peaked. They have yet to reach their ultimate potential. Although they are exceptional in the current landscape and by the standards of other opponents, they are not as superb as they will be in the future. So in essence, when you have two standout prospects and get that fight sooner rather than later, you're essentially not getting a fight as amazing as it otherwise might be.

Secondly, if the fight turns out to be a horrific back and forth war, one of those fighters or both of them might never be the same again. Case in point: Ferguson vs Gaethje. Tony ate so much damage in that fight that it probably scrambled his eggs forever. He's been a shadow of himself since that bout.

All I'm saying is that there's a case to be made for waiting.

Chandler at 8-0 took on a surging Eddie Alvarez and one of the greatest fights happened ever. Not sure what I'm saying here, but if you book a fight like that, you're gonna get the best out of both guys.

I get your point Baldric, by the way - Ferguson should retire and recover as much as he can. Sad to say but he has trouble with brain now, you can tell by his press conferences, its even worse than before

Not to mention he has mental health issues and his wife put him on a restraining order to protect him (this was before the Gaethje fight) because he had a mental breakdown.

I got your point baldric but I really dont think these guys styles will equate to a war. This give me more islam vs makhachev shades more than a stand up brawl. Ilia can keep it on the feet, but is a phenomenal grappler in his own right, where movsar is going to try and wrestle him the entire time. Should still be a good fight tho

knockout, Stipe catches him, Francis resets and just blasts him with that perfect left hook. Herb Dean just freaking out as Francis goes for the kill shot.

I've never seen a puncher like Ngannou in MMA. That hook that KO'ed Stipe was a terrible punch. Francis was totally out of cadence and over-extended. Watch his feet. He doesn't even step into it,  he's planted, and just wings it off a pivot (not even a full hip rotation at that)  and it still rips Stipe's plug out. There was no shoulder torque in that punch whatsoever. It's terrifying. I'm pretty sure Stipe knew it was coming but thought it wouldn't do a whole lot, and it wouldn't have if anyone else had thrown it. It was basically everything you're told not to do in Boxing. Francis' power is off the Richter scale. You don't need technique when you're packing what he's got. He's like Shavers-- a once-in-a-generation puncher. Even taking his shots on the arms/hands isn't doable for too long. Not in 4's. I cannot even imagine how much more devastating he would be if he could actually Box.

He's probably going to murder Gane. Obliterate him. There is no way to prepare for this guy. He has the touch of death. No striker is beating him.

I never seen a puncher like Ngannou before.

But I never see a H.W. with the precision & movement Gane have.

Could be Ngannou KO or Gane decision its very hard to call.

I agree, this fight will go two ways. Gane will dominate the fight, then ngannou lands the one punch and flattens him, or gane will dominate the fight, then ngannou can't land the one punch, and gane wins.

it will be interesting to see how reach plays out in this. Gane has never fought someone with a longer reach than him until now. Francis has an inhumanly long reach of 83 inches, combine that with his superhuman power and I dont think gane will last even with his elite skillset and movement

Crazy the N'gannou recently hired Rico Verhoeven to train with before this fight. And paying the Goat of heavyweight kickboxing to train with is going to be 1 expensive restaurant tab to pay for. This concerns me for a few reasons. First it means he is taking Gane very Seriously. To bring in Rico, Francis understands what kind of threat Gane proposes and is trying to take the necessary steps to prepare.

This is my issue. Francis is not technical. He will not become technical enough in the time frame for Gane. He is going to change is fighting style. Thats a mistake. He needs to do what Francis does. Come out aggressive and throw planets at Gane.

Gane has a simple gameplan. Out Strike Francis. Make is as boring as humanly possible. Hit Francis and dont get hit. Fans will boo and Gane will win.

Francis is going to get confident training with Rico and try to get into a boxing match with Gane which he will loose. He needs to fight the way he always fight and come mad dog towards Gane. I believe Gane takes this fight by boring decision.

It's possible that Francis turns up different, but that's not highly probable IMO. It's extremely difficult to get fighters to fundamentally change their styles. Wrote-learning and natural instincts take over again pretty quickly in real fight scenarios.

I think you're right about Gane's best chance being dec. He could definitely stay on his bike and win if the Francis that fought Lewis turns up.

Not disagreeing with anyone here about Francis and the fact that he is still building, take a look at this breakdown. It's very well done, and is some food for thought. It doesn't mean this guy is right about Francis, but it is interesting.
