DC better hope Francis wins cause if not, Blaydes is the new HW Champ.  DC can't handle Blaydes. Too young, too big and is great at everything DC is....IF Curtis gets his revenge he'll be the new Champ within a couple months.

@Bruce I think Blaydes will actually finish Ngannou this time, so yeah-- new champ incoming.

Very intriguing card!

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 0 Perfect, 350 Points   |   Tied for 1246th

Very much a prospect vs. prospect sort of card, which is always exciting.  It is too bad we don't get to see Yadong Song against someone we've heard of (Frankie Saenz) but that will come eventually. I just wish it didn't start at 12:15am on a day I have to work at 8am.

Pretty good card on paper. I think Zhang will be kind of a big deal in th future and a lot more people will be believers after this weekend. It's probably do or die for  louis 'smeagle' smolka here too. Has a lot of potential but has never been able to put it all together. Pavlovich is probably going brutalize reem, and watching reem get brutalized is always fun. Sergey is a lunatic--he knows one direction (forward) and his volume and pace is off the hook. Likely punches ten shades of **** out of overeem within the first for a KO/TKO.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 545 Points   |   Tied for 344th

Overeem vs. Pavlovich
Alistair Overeem, TKO, R2
Overeem is definitely chinny, but unlike a Darren Elkins he doesn't rely on his chin to implement a successful gameplan. I think he is skilled enough to out strike this guy without getting smoked. Sergey is the prototypical Russian regional Champ. Juiced up, stiff in the trunk throwing arm punches with force and swarming fat guys for TKO's. Not really impressed by him. Of course this is HW and Reem so he might land in an exchange and win, but I think people are ignoring the skill differential and how that is going to reduce Pavlovich's opportunities to land in the first place. Reem wins by just clearly being the more skilled fighter, and not eating that one big shot.

Song vs. Morales
Yadong Song, DEC
I think Morales will do better than most people believe. Yadong is a talented fighter at just 20 years old, but I think he relies too heavily on power. He is from the same mould as Guido Cannetti, in that he doesn't have a half speed with anything he throws, and in the regional scene this cost him as fights went on and his explosiveness waned. Morales on the other hand is a good efficient boxer, but that's about it. He has shown some takedown defence but not against a good grappler, he doesn't utilise kicks and the majority of his scoring offence is from walking opponents down and out landing them with 2's and 3's. I don't see Yadong dropping morales on the feet, and I think if he gets a finish its a TKO from unanswered strikes with him on top in half guard. If Morales had more of a ground game i'd be picking him, but ultimately I think he has too narrow a path to victory, so I see a ferocious first round from Yadong and a takedown in round 2 with Morales hanging in there but never scoring enough.

Song vs. Morono
Alex Morono, DEC
Song is a strong guy with powerful single strikes and some low kicks. He is reasonably athletic but he is a pretty low volume guy. He likes a slower paced fight where you trade in single exchanges and then reset. I think he has some good success in the first round as his power strikes hold Morono off, but I don't think they substantially hurt Morono, and when they don't Morono will be able to apply more pressure as the fight goes on and land more scoring strikes. Possibly with some clinch work and takedowns in the 2nd and 3rd as Song tires. Song's power and output will diminish as the fight goes on, where the opposite will likely happen with Morono. Both guys aren't the most technical, but Song isn't an intimidating enough striker to shut Morono down completely.

Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 545 Points   |   Tied for 344th

Blaydes vs. N'Gannou II
Curtis Blaydes, DEC
Ngannou is a scary dude on the feet, but it's more probable Curtis improvements on the feet allow him to survive an explosive first 2 rounds. I think he blankets Ngannou like the Stipe fight. Ngannou is never hurt bad, but just too tired to get Curtis off him, so it goes on and on in that fashion for 5 rounds.

Wu vs. Mueller
Lauren Mueller, DEC
Via being more durable and mentally tough. Closer fight than the odds suggest but Mueller just grinds a little more and fights for position when Wu rests. Maybe late finish for Lauren.

Coulter vs. Hu
Rashad Coulter, TKO, R1
HW's fighting at LHW. Coulter probably wins just by having a bit more technique. Lands something nice and finishes.

Liu vs. Day
Pingyuan Liu, SUB, R2
Martin is just too physically unimposing and has a very passive boxing game.

Phillips vs. Holland
Kevin Holland, SUB, R1
Holland isn't as good as he thinks he is, but he is probably better than Phillips.

Smolka vs. Sumudaerji
Louis Smolka, SUB, R2
This is such a weird fight. Both fought 1 month ago. Sumudaerji has the speed on the feet that could cause the slow Smolka trouble, but he has lost 3 times by submission, including last month, so it's impossible based on the limited film we have of him to determine if he can defend the single leg and submissions of Smolka. Ugly fight, if you bet Smolka I think you made a mistake, but 3 sub losses we can't review for sumudaerji is just too big a red flag to give him the nod. I think he slows down with all his movement and in the 2nd Smolka gets the clinch>single leg> submission.

Yan vs. Kondo
Xiaonan Yan, DEC
Another weird fight where you wouldn't want to trust an individual with their price, but will probably still win Yan has the speed which I think is everything in a fight vs. Kondo. Kondo is a grinder with pressure who walks into the pocket and throws the exact same punches. A jerky step in jab or the slight slip off line right hand. Rinse repeat. She just keeps walking into range. She has some body kicks too, but a lot of her offence comes from her walking literally into her opponent and then striking. Jan is a karate type girl who has fast movement. Her striking isn't very pretty but her ability to quickly strike and move is going to leave the zombie in Kondo marching toward an opponent that keeps re-positioning. Yan by decision.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 4 Perfect, 505 Points   |   580th Place

Blaydes vs. N'Gannou II
Curtis Blaydes, TKO, R3
curtis is gonna fight smart and avoid the winging shots before getting it to the fence and onto the ground. he'll stay patient and find his shots once francis tires.

Overeem vs. Pavlovich
Alistair Overeem, TKO, R2
no clue what to make of this booking. reem's chin is understandably being questioned, but he's still dangerous.

Li vs. Zawada
Jingliang Li, DEC
li certainly leaves openings to get hit and zawada can finish a fight, but it won't be my pick. i'll go with lee's pressure.

Song vs. Morales
Yadong Song, DEC
not fully song on this song, but i'm not sure morales even belongs here.

Song vs. Morono
Kenan Song, TKO, R2
on paper, morono should have more tools to win with, but i think the volume is gonna be heavily in song's favor and that one eventually gets through.

Wu vs. Mueller
Lauren Mueller, TKO, R2
wu had been can crushing before getting signed and i had no idea what they saw, now they're just using her as straight fodder it looks like.

Coulter vs. Hu
Yaozong Hu, TKO, R1
it takes a certain level of low to lose to asker, but it takes an equally low level to lose to de la rocha, so i think hu is totally capable of sending coulter packing.

Aguilar vs. Zhang
Jessica Aguilar, DEC
not a fan of jag, but i think she's being underrated here. she's durable and she's gonna push as best she can to keep it a boring clinch/wrestling match.

Liu vs. Day
Pingyuan Liu, DEC
not sure what to expect from day, but he's hawaiin so i'm expecting that trademark scrappiness. that said, it seems like he's coming up in weight and liu seems capable of pushing the pace and maintaining.

Yan vs. Kondo
Xiaonan Yan, DEC
i like syuri, but this feels like they're setting up a hometown crowd pleaser. i'm expecting yan to push forward at all times and keep kondo defensive.

Phillips vs. Holland
Kevin Holland, SUB, R1
should be fun while it lasts, but i think holland is more big stage ready at this point and should be able to give him some grief in the grappling department if he can't connect standing.

Smolka vs. Sumudaerji
Louis Smolka, SUB, R2
smolka should be too durable to finish and i think there's probably a difference in ground game. louis could obviously get clipped , but feels irresponsible to pick against him here and i'm kind of curious why the odds are so close.

Li vs. Zawada
Jingliang Li, DEC
Zawada is a submission grappler. He prioritises submission over position and doesn't have an imposing striking arsenal. I think he sets a pace he can't keep r1 trying to be competitive with Leech and slows as the fight goes on. Li is able to sustain his kind of pace for 3 rounds and might get the late KO against an exhausted and out gunned Zawada, but if not a pretty clear 30-27 for Leech.
