I’ve got to suck it up,” Pulver said. “The right time to retire is when I don’t think I can compete. The right time to retire is when I don’t feel like I can get up and train. When I’m not knocking people out in practice. The right time to retire is probably not when you’re 34 years old. I made dumb decisions and bad choices. The right time to retire is when you can’t do it physically anymore. That’s not the case. I was having problems mentally. I feel like I’ve fixed my mental, and the physical follows right behind it.”
Of course he could go out and work in Starbucks and make a fraction of what he can fighting (even at this point in his career). As long as he is fighting in decent sized orgs where MMA is regulated and people are looking after his physical and mental health - I'm ok with it.
