There have been many measures taken to try to turn the educational system towards more control, more indoctrination, more vocational training, imposing a debt, which traps students and young people into a life of conformity... That's the exact opposite of [what] traditionally comes out of The Enlightenment. And there's a constant struggle between those. Tbh it’s not really the education, but the connections. I’m only in college cuz mine is good at getting people jobs🤣. The “school” consists of studying to not fail exams

Noam Chomsky is a useless geriatric commie fossil. Debt isn't what makes people reluctant to change society. The fact that it's not immediately gratifying and is not profitable is, and actually affecting change requires non-profitable life-investment. That's why virtue-signalling is so rampant. Because it is now possible to earn the kickbacks of being virtuous without have personally invested anything to any noble cause whatsoever. It's compounded by the fact that people can just get a dopamine hit from upvotes now, and everybody is addicted to this because they are addicted to social media. In this postmodern carnival of insanity, identifying with something that is perceived as virtuous is tantamount to bringing virtuosity about.

@ Rattus by all means do. But when selecting a degree, never forget you're still functioning as a consumer. It's no different from buying a house or selecting a mortgage broker. Make sure you're going to get a return on your investment.

Damn I go to a private school in Florida, but I’m making sure to maximize my college experience to the fullest by getting high grades and becoming involved in several fields of the university. I understand both sides of the argument towards attending or not attending college though so I’m not here to judge anyone on their opinion.

The best advice I can give to any young person is thus: Don't be a wage slave. If you're working for somebody else, you're not working for yourself. Whenever you work for somebody else, you are selling your labour to them, and they are selling it on for a profit. There are people who own things and people who don't. You can be an owner, or you can be a slave.

Doesn't matter what the industry is, or what you want to do. The rule applies. The goal should always be to garner the skills and industry knowledge necessary to set up shop for yourself.

The slaves slaver and the slavers slave.

That's how it is.
