Reconsidering Masvidal

Predictions: 5 of 7 Winners, 2 Perfect, 330 Points   |   Tied for 4145th

I know the initial thought is to assume this is going to be Covington out wrestling Masvidal for 5 rounds, but in Usman Vs. Masvidal 1 - Usman (with his massive strength and high wrestling pedigree) struggled to do this. At best, he had him stuck on the cage, TDs were not easy - so much so that in their second outing it's as if Usman deviated from a heavy wrestling strategy all together.

Given this example, coupled with the fact that Colby is no where near as robust as Usman, does anyone else think this opening line is too steep?

I'm actually thinking about refraining from betting on Colby.

Thoughts? Thanks

I'm worried that Masvidal is saying he's gonna put him in the hospital, I don't believe he should be talking like he did against Usman in their 2nd fight. There is something about how Masvidal took the second Usman fight like Usman was his born natural enemy.

The striking definitely goes to Masvidal, and as you said his TDD is very good especially for a guy who fought at 155 for most of his career. That said, Covington and him are pretty good with their cardio, especially Covington.

If Masvidal was being silent, I would have more confidence. Could he be taking Covington too lightly? Or does he know something we don't know?

I'm going with MMA math on this one Jorge has lost a lot and to cans and pretty much "EVERY" top tier fighter he has ever seen.
Past it Yves and Over rated Till and Askren are only exceptions I see.
Colby has lost to 1 lower level guy and was kod and decisioned once by Usman.
I also believe Jorge has exceeded him sell by date and is destined for clearance.
Jorge is cagey finds openings I don't think his skills are elite hes like lewis relies on reflexes and power.
I'll be looking forward to braindead fanboi downvotes but I will stand by my findings.
Colby will beat him up take him down and pound him out 75% 20% decision.
Jorge has a narrow margin for success and it requires colby to trip on his ****.

Covington vs. Masvidal
Colby Covington, DEC
The rivalry finally gets settled and I can’t wait for this fight even though I’m almost positive Colby grind Masvidal for 25 minutes

dos Anjos vs. Fiziev
Rafael Fiziev, TKO, R3
The new blood fiziev should take RDA out quite easily I believe I think RDA is too high in the rankings as is he beat Felder who took the fight on short notice and Kevin lee who no longer is even In the ufc fiziev gets it done

Barboza vs. Mitchell
Bryce Mitchell, DEC
Mitchell wrestle ****s Barboza

Holland vs. Oliveira
Kevin Holland, SUB, R2
Could be a great fight here have holland 100% but I have a weird feeling he ends it by triangle

Spivak vs. Hardy
Sergey Spivak, TKO, R2
Spivak should get the takedown at some point and Hardy won’t get up

Eye vs. Fiorot
Manon Fiorot, DEC
Easy win for Manon

Moroz vs. Agapova
Maryna Moroz, DEC
I know these two don’t like eachother but I think Mariya might go for the kill a little too early has gas and get wrestled to a decision

Jacoby vs. Oleksiejczuk
Dustin Jacoby, TKO, R2
Another really close one to call I’m gonna take Jacoby because he’s impressed me with his ufc run so far

Elliott vs. Ulanbekov
Tagir Ulanbekov, SUB, R2
I think Tagir knows now from his last fight he can’t just lay on the guy to win because he could lose a SD and Elliott puts himself in some bad positions sometimes

Rodriguez vs. Yan
Marina Rodriguez, TKO, R2
Probably closer then I think but Marina is on a roll and she’s one of the few female fighters who I think puts it together with the striking I see her piecing yan up

Turner vs. Mullarkey
Jamie Mullarkey, TKO, R1
Great scrap tbh really hard to call I’m edging Jamie just because of the competition he’s faced

Smith vs. Gonzalez
Erick Gonzalez, TKO, R1
Gonzalez gets his first UFC win here

Negumereanu vs. Nzechukwu
Nick Negumereanu, TKO, R1
I think they both get into a fire fight and Nick emerges on top

If Oliveira doesn't watch himself while rocked (which he doesn't), I could definitely see Holland getting a sub

Mitchell is ******

Predictions: 11 of 13 Winners, 4 Perfect, 680 Points   |   Tied for 343rd

Much like red pandas, tigers and women who are into butt stuff, characters such as Bryce are a dying breed. His story about a squirrel putting a hole in his nuts is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in MMA. But as much as I love this bucktoothed boomhauer, I don’t think I can trust his grappling skills alone against Barboza.

Edson is a do-or-die, almost glass-cannon kickboxer. The man has given more brain damage to human beings than all the full frontal lobotomies in the forties combined, but has also taken nearly as much damage. He’s a crowd pleaser, it’s his greatest strength and weakness. Is it enough to ware down Bryce? Eh, sure, why not? You basically got a severe case of a solid striker vs a solid grappler. It’s a standoff and Edson has a tendency of pulling the gun out the holster pronto. Bryce’s flimsy defense and generally poor footwork are gonna put him in deep **** very early on, especially with his extremely wide and flat posture, practically ****-teasing Edson for a calf kick. I hope Bryce is fond of hospital food.

Barboza is kind of washed imo I think people will be surprised when he can’t tee off on mitchel. The second he gets a takedown it’s pretty much over for Edson

The dudes 3-6 in his last 9 and 36 years old I think it’s safe to say he’s not the same fighter he was. I had him beating Giga because Giga sucks. Luckily he was exposed

Also the size could play a factor
