Yeah I've been waiting to see my boy Ganu again fight for awhile now..

I'll be setting up shop at Hooters in the afternoon to watch the Bengals/Titans game with some friends then stay to watch the UFC card.

Hopefully my stomach can handle all the wings and root beer I'm gonna consume.

I am definitely not a casual and I would call this a **** card. Only 2 compelling fights out of 11 for me.

And Tieoken and Rusty's debate on the last few pages just confirms my opinion of extreme weight-cutting: it sucks and can't possibly be healthy and should be done away with. Imagine a world where world class fighters who are already trying to damage the other actually go into a fight at their healthiest.

Idk I’m with welsh on this one. Yes it’s annoying the fights got cancelled and maybe it’s because there’s not a lot of hype on the fighters but I’m looking forward to every fight except demopolous and Juarez. Everything else is fire

Weight cutting is literally terrible for your body. From bodybuilders, to wrestlers, to MMA fighters. It is truly spectacular how little concern we give to the brain. If anyone really wants to know the science behind it I can do another splurge in the misc thread. But honestly, I’ve done the scientist on a soapbox preaching doomsday like 6 times already lol.

Just please, if any of you or your love ones who you are medically responsible for is suffering from severe dehydration. When they try to give you IV fluids because that’s literally the first line standard of care (CDC, WHO, NIH), don’t reject treatment because some dude on the internet told you, “it’s for sure a bad idea, just like trust me man.” Please listen to your doctors.

N'Gannou vs. Gane
Ciryl Gane, DEC
Definitely rooting against my own pick here

Moreno vs. Figueiredo III
Brandon Moreno, SUB, R4
Will take a little longer this time

Pereira vs. Fialho
Michel Pereira, TKO, R2
POTN favorite

Stamann vs. Nurmagomedov
Said Nurmagomedov, DEC
Probably the best fight on this card.

Morales vs. Giles
Trevin Giles, DEC
I thought Morales was Moreno's teammate

Maddalena vs. Rodriguez
Jack Della Maddalena, TKO, R2
Yeah probably

Gravely vs. Oliveira
Tony Gravely, R3
Definitely not worth the bet.

Frevola vs. Valdéz
Matt Frevola, DEC
Not compelling but definitely the most competitive fight up to this point, probably.

Demopoulos vs. Juárez
Silvana Gómez Juárez, DEC
Surprised Demopoulos is the betting favorite. This will be the first of the 4 (or is it only 3) fighters from Moreno's gym. One of the more interesting storylines tonight.

Jasudavicius vs. Hansen
Kay Hansen, DEC
Rather easy pick to make simply looking at quality of opposition.

Predictions: 3 of 11 Winners, 1 Perfect, 175 Points   |   Tied for 4040th

N'Gannou vs. Gane
Ciryl Gane, TKO, R3
Nganou is a better version of Derrick Lewis. Sitting on 1 or 2 punches isn't going to work agains someone like Ciryl Gane. Nganou will have to box, his big power punches I dont think we'll be able to seal the deal. And I dont think he'll do anything different.

Moreno vs. Figueiredo III
Brandon Moreno, DEC
This isnt an easy pick. the new guard vs the old guard. 2 champion level fighters, but I think Moreno must have something on Figueredo thats why he beat him the first time and thas why he'll beat him again.

Pereira vs. Fialho
Michel Pereira, DEC
Another "easy" pick.

Stamann vs. Nurmagomedov
Cody Stamann, DEC
Stamann has fought harder competition. He 2L his last fight. This might be his last chance, and to be honest i think Said has been given easy fights. This one wont be so easy.

Morales vs. Giles
Michael Morales, DEC
Ive been going with the newbies on this card and im gonna stick with them here. Before a ecuadorian coming into the league fighting out of Tijuana would be considered sub par. I think we're going to see that change, and Morales is going to be one of those fighters.

Barcelos vs. Henry
Raoni Barcelos, SUB, R1
this is the easiest pick in the event. I hope.

Maddalena vs. Rodriguez
Pete Rodriguez, TKO, R2
i like the guy with 5 straight knockouts.

Gravely vs. Oliveira
Saimon Oliveira, DEC
The Brasilian is being underestimated, I think he will his been around the block and can hang with the big boys, and I think he will pull out the win.

Frevola vs. Valdéz
Matt Frevola, DEC
we might get an upset here, but i think Frevola is gonna use his veteran antics to hold valdez to the mat.

Demopoulos vs. Juárez
Silvana Gómez Juárez, DEC
Demopoulos is probably the better pick, but I have a feeling la malvada is gonna have a tough bounce back win

Jasudavicius vs. Hansen
Kay Hansen, DEC
womens fights are difficult and grindy, thats why i give it to the younger fighter whos been in more fights

N'Gannou vs. Gane
Francis N'Gannou, TKO, R1
I am absolutely not an Ngannou fan. I actually don’t like him and he’s my least favorite HW champion ever. I have to pick him because of just how massively improved he looked in the second Stipe fight. Like the man looked like a **** flinging baboon for his whole career who was just cashing in a genetic lottery ticket. But the wrestling, leg kicks, strong jab, and octagon cornering he showed in the stipe fight made him look like a high level amateur. I’m imagining he’s even more motivated for this performance, and expect him to show up with a similar level of improvement. And someone with Ngannou’s ability who is even remotely qualified to be in the Octagon is basically unbeatable. Genetics are a ***********er and power is the great equalizer. If Gane takes 20 +/- 5 punches to the dome he’s losing consciousness. And his track record shows that as talented as he is he will absorb at least that much damage.

N'Gannou vs. Gane
Francis N'Gannou, TKO, R1
It literally only takes one shot, and everyone gets hit at least a few times.

Moreno vs. Figueiredo III
Deiveson Figueiredo, SUB, R1
This looked like Figueiredo's easiest weight cut ever, I think it's going to be a club and sub

Pereira vs. Fialho
Andre Fialho, TKO, R1
Some extremely live dogs on this card, I'd be betting this top 3 fights for sure

Stamann vs. Nurmagomedov
Said Nurmagomedov, DEC
I don't see any real paths to victory for Stamann here

Morales vs. Giles
Michael Morales, TKO, R3
Hopefully a dr stoppage after a prolonged ass beating, I am not a fan of Giles.

Barcelos vs. Henry
Raoni Barcelos, DEC
Henry is more experienced and they're the same age so I wouldn't turn my nose up at betting him at +375, but Barcelos might be a future title challenger.

Maddalena vs. Rodriguez
Pete Rodriguez, TKO, R1
I've picked Rodriguez by KO in Round 1 for his entire professional career, not stopping now.

Frevola vs. Valdéz
Genaro Valdéz, TKO, R1
Why are they doing the Steamrolla like this?

Jasudavicius vs. Hansen
Kay Hansen, SUB, R2
Hansen will probably lose if she doesn't get it to the ground and find a submission, another live dog

We share 10/11 picks so I have to say good take.

Edit: Then again, like you, the only pick I have that is a dog on both tapology and in the betting market is Trevin Giles.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 4 of 11 Winners, 2 Perfect, 275 Points   |   Tied for 3160th

N'Gannou vs. Gane
Ciryl Gane, TKO, R4
obviously francis could just end things early, but kinda thinking gane will have enough real estate in the ppv cage to keep it at kicking range early before eventually working his way in once things slow down a bit.

Moreno vs. Figueiredo III
Brandon Moreno, DEC
feels silly jumping ship on fig since he could've won the first fight and claims to have been sick for the second, but i guess i'm buying the moreno hype for now, he seems to have more heart.

Pereira vs. Fialho
Michel Pereira, DEC
fialho is a good signing, seems to go for it every time. feeling like pereira will be more patient though and focus on matadoring/countering.

Stamann vs. Nurmagomedov
Said Nurmagomedov, DEC
always tough to figure out if name value is blurring my vision on the dagestanis, but seeing stamann get pushed around by other wrestlers the past few years has me thinking said could do it too.

Morales vs. Giles
Michael Morales, DEC
guess we're gonna find out if morales can wrestle and feel kinda dumb if giles just drags him around. if he can stay upright, i'll take him though?

Barcelos vs. Henry
Raoni Barcelos, DEC
feel like this is going to decision and in my mind that favors barcelos' well-rounded skillset because all 5 of victor's losses are via scorecards.

Maddalena vs. Rodriguez
Jack Della Maddalena, TKO, R1
props for stepping up but pete is a green late replacement with only 1 even moderately relevant win so i'll take the guy who they thought could hang in there with warlley alves.

Gravely vs. Oliveira
Saimon Oliveira, SUB, R1
guess i'm biting on gravely's 5 sub losses and oliveira's early push. gravely has only gone to (split) decision once since hitting the big stages and saimon has never been finished.

Frevola vs. Valdéz
Genaro Valdéz, TKO, R2
won't be surprised if frevola turns on the wrestling effectively, but kinda feeling like valdez will be able to sprawl and punish?

Demopoulos vs. Juárez
Silvana Gómez Juárez, TKO, R2
i hate picking this fight, juarez could very well rush herself into a triangle or armbar, but otherwise i think her pressure can make vanessa focus on defending.

Jasudavicius vs. Hansen
Kay Hansen, DEC
felt clear towards kay initially, but the polastri win has me reconsidering this matchup because polastri ko'd delboni (mmamath i know), but losing to elise reed has me thinking that kay should be able to bully a bit too.
