Shanna Young   vs.   Stephanie Egger

This one really doesn't pass the sniff test, and I doubt whether either wo---never mind.

It's a very poor quality bout representing a very meagre combined talent pool on a card that already feels like leftovers night. Neither girl is UFC calibre and having watched tape on both them now I  can safely assume they never will be.  It's inexplicable to me that these kinds of things are booked. I suppose UFC is trying to deliver content, but there's no integrity behind it if what's being offered is a just total bin juice. I'm not grateful when my cat comes home in the evening and regurgitates the remains of a sparrow on the rug.

Anyway here's the rub: Egger's striking defense is non-existant, and she throws punches with all the technique and forethought of  a hungry bum banging on the door of a late-to-open soup kitchen. And don't be fooled by the subs on her record ether; she does not have solid TD'S, at all. The women she has taken down wouldn't pass a drunk test stone sober, would have probably just fallen over anyway, and I'd be surprised if they haven't choked themselves out assembling flat packs from Ikea.

And Shana is basically just her mirror image. I can tell you who I think will win, though it's a bit like betting on a charity chicken race as the outcome is totally unpredictable, nobody really cares and it doesn't matter which takes the blue ribbon anyway. But for what it's worth, I'll take Young. by decision, purely because she's fought better girls and seems to have better top control and cardio.

Edit: The only good thing to come out of watching tape on these two was being introduced to Molly Duptertuis (below) who is also terrible, but is at least good looking and has not drunk deeply of the ugly well as the two girls who are the subject of this post.

Andrade vs. Pirrello
Douglas Andrade, TKO, R2
I think Andrade's forward pressure and his power will give Pirrello a lot of issues here. Pirrello doesn't really move his head and that means he's open to the big powerful looping shots from Andrade and I can see Andrade just cracking him with a big shot eventually

Every update on Holland’s wrestling has been bad. He trained with DC, which is great. But come to find out he left AKA after like three sessions because Shabazyan joins the gym and Kevin views him as a future opponent. Ever since then it’s back to bumming around freelance, like Sean Strickland but without any of the preexisting skills. And whenever asked what he’s working on now, he sounds like a guy trying to brush past the five year gap in his resume during the job interview. He went from using this time off with takedown defense as his primary focus, to just kind of doing what he was doing before.

I agree with you however, kevin has been training with johny hendricks extensively out in texas. I thought that his reasons to leave AKA were very questionable but a reason that he didnt mention is his family who are staying in texas. The constant switch to the bay and to fort worth seems extremely taxing for anyone with a family, especially when he is not in big money fights. At the end of the day I hop he can perform well with the help of big rig.

The Hendricks this seems like an out of left field recent thing, and there was something he said in his most recent interview that caught my ear, but I think it was like "we've done a few sessions" or something. As if it's still not a long term coaching thing, just another passing through type thing. Even with a dedicated camp I'd be skeptical that a guy could completely fix their weaknesses in one fight. But definitely not piecemeal like this.

lol, going from "joining AKA under DC and Khabib" to "some sessions with Johny Hendricks" definitely ain't the right direction.

Mullarkey vs. Smith
Devonte Smith, DEC
I love this fight, absolute banger. Mullarkey just comes forward and looks to land his big power shots whilst Smith wants to keep it more technical and use his straight punches to pick you apart. I think Smith gets it done, Mullarkey is there to be hit and I can see him walking into some jabs from Smith. Mullarkey is extremely tough so I don't see him getting finished but I got Smith out pointing him here

FWIW I think he wins this fight wrestling or not. Daukaus has had one of the more rough debuting stretches for recent fighters. Brendan Allen to debut. Usually they throw ya a bone after something like that but then Stoltzfus, Hawes, and now Holland. They trying to get this kid bounced or what.

@Erison I don't see how getting in wrestling rounds with Hendricks is going to do a whole lot either. Or any kind of rounds. Unless Johnny is going to teach him to how to correctly cycle and dodge a hot USADA test I don't see any benefit to that at all.

Holland vs. Daukaus
Kevin Holland, DEC
Either Holland's takedown defense has indeed improved or Daukaus's takedown offense isn't good enough, will be a moment of truths for both but I think Holland takes this if he doesn't goof around

one thing I say about Kevin Holland is I wouldn't be surprise if we all under rating his takedown defense . He did fight the number 3 and 4 best fighter in the world in Vettori and Brunson, And even Vettori and Brunson are the best wrestler at 185 with Jack Hermanson. Kyle Daukaus wresling is not at the Vettori and Brunson level, So maybe he can do better? I think Holland wresling is bad, but maybe not as bad as everyone making it out to be

People forget Brunson just did the same thing to Darren Till, But faster. And Vettori took down Adesanya a few times,

Good point duck, I'm rooting for Daukaus but he's not even close to Brunson or Vettori when it comes to wrestling. Even if he can get takedowns I think this fight will be similar to both of their fights with Brendan Allen where you see high paced scrambles and reversals, instead of heavy top control from either one of these guys.

Holland probably keeps this on the feet and Daukaus will chase him around eating jabs for 15 minutes
