I hate seeing either guy lose in a situation like this. Especially when both guys fought well. Jamall been steady on the regional circuit for a long time. He should be able to more than hold his own in the UFC for future fights. Looking forward to the future from both of them.

I think they got that right. The second was close but Giga did more damage after the sweep than Emmers did with the takedown. I thought his shots standing had more impact as well. Close fight thou for sure.

The only thing Giga did in that 2nd round was get pieced up and had a reversal on Jamall and did nothing with it. Jamall got right back up after getting reversed and pieced up Giga. I had him winning the first but Jamall taking over the next two. GGWP judges are smoking crack again

I would give giga the second by the fact that he had more damaging and impactful moments. emmers should have been able to toy with this guy after the 2nd but he didn't so he deserves that L

Close 1. 1clear Giga, 3 clear Emmers. 2nd Emmers TD, was reversed. Emmers pushing forward, Giga landed cleanest hardest strike. Again, close 1

Good fight. I had it 29-28  emmers but it’s not the worst decision. Second round was close. It’s a shame since emmers has taken 21 fights to get to the ufc and now he’s already just 1 loss from the exit again. He looks like he belonged there

I just don't understand what some of these judges look for. Emmers convincingly won 2 & 3. I didn't even lay a bet down on Emmers, but Giga has had the luckiest UFC record winning 2 split decisions he clearly lost.

^ This. Immediate damage that has a visible appearance of drawing the fight to conclusion is the primary criteria, and secondary scoring considerations cannot enter the decision-making of the Judges unless no fighter displayed an advantage in the primary criteria.

If you're thinking 'yeah but apart from that emmers pushed the fight and landed about the same amount of cumulative damage" you don't understand how MMA is scored.

If you think emmers hurt giga more in a majority of rounds, or that Giga didn't really hurt emmers, you're entitled to that opinion.

I don't hold that opinion because emmers was wobbled visibly.

Just think, at this very moment we could've been witnessing the greatness of Emily Whitmire vs Pollyanna Viana!!!! We are truly missing out on something that could've went down in history!!!
Hopefully they rematch ASAP as a Main Event International Fight Week

Emmers outlanded Giga 57 to 40, got 2 takedowns, and controlled the octagon in the 2nd and 3rd rounds... how did Giga win that?
