Bellator NYC: Sonnen vs. Silva Discussion Thread

I think I'll be ordering this one. There's a perfect blend of weirdness, potential lulz and quality match-making. 

I'm also a sucker for hyped debuts, and I can't remember one carrying quite the level of build-up as Aaron Pico. 

Let's see what he looks like. 

Prelims on Spike TV at 8pm ET (fantastic card in its own right,) and PPV main card at 10pm.

Any opinions on his fight? Good name.to have on here nobodys said a word about him. I don't really know where his career will take him at this point. Hope he gets back on track but its bad i'm more hyped on the possibility of Haim beating him and seeing where he can go.

he seemed to have peaked at the KJ noons win. Maybe if they run that back it'll revitalize him. But i can't think of a fight right now that i'd be hyped about involving him. And i'm rootin for the guy. Will be watching that scrap on the spike online prelims.

@mikeyg featured prelim. Every company does it. None of Pico/freeman, Hardy, Gracie, Machida move the needle as much as Bader/Davis will. As boring as their first fight was thats the big name fight you need to get eyes to the spike portion then the PPV

I like Couture to get the finish. 

And I'm going with Bader this time around in a narrow decision.

And i got Fedor getting Ko'd in the first.

They invested a lot in Pico so that is why he is on the main card.

Early prelims will also be streamed on Mmajunkie if anyone is wondering (6pm est) .I'm assuming this is still the regular stream which runs like crap for me.quality is nice but pauses a lot so I usually just use a different stream.Only place I have a problem running streams,it's odd.


@SlongKong I have only seen Haim a little just 2 mma fights and 1 grappling match and I wasn't too impressed plus he's 44 as far as I know.The little I have seen I think Ryan wins this handily,but really I can't say much I don't know Haim enough nor did I study footage on him.

Ryan has a total dad bod at 170.I know this wasn't short notice for either guy so was he just taking a fight at 170 or do you know if he felt he needed to move up?Also Haim is not 6'2" which would make him 4" taller than Couture,no way.Oh and not that you care,that downvote wasn't from me.

@kuma Couture said in a flocombat interview he did it so he could get a fight on the MSG card and will go back down to 155 after this. Probably why they didn't match him.up against the guy that beat Koscheck.

also i know it wasn't you that downvoted. I called some dude out forever ago when a rfa title fight fell through and he was excited cause "now both fighters can make it to the ufc" and i just wanted to see the best fight the best regardless of promotion. And he's been salty ever since and he follows me around downvoting every post of mine he see's.

I've been away for a while, but I'm back now.  This will be a black beauty.  By the way, has anyone gotten it yet?

Nice comeback by Giacchina.  Dude took some real bombs there and I really thought Mickle would have been more aggressive for that finish.  Also, Goldberg has gotten a lot better at commentary. Him and Jimmy Smith are a better pairing than Goldberg and Rogan.

Much respect to Couture but it seems Jake Shields hits harder.

missed the first2 rounds but couture looked great in the 3rd. excellent preformance. a little more power he probably would have finished it.

Couture looked great?  Yeah if a nap was what you were looking to do the last 20 minutes.  SnoooozeFest!

Seeing it in action, signing Goldie was a genius move by Bellator. Makes the broadcast sound/feel exactly like the UFC.

**** it I'm buying it, I can't miss Fedor. Quality card, add The American Gangster vs The Axe Murder, I'm stoked.
