It wouldn't surprise me if Jiri took Alex down and submitted him.

ok?? again, not what I'm arguing. sure, Izzy owns Alex. whatever. all I'm saying is that if you're having close fights with these fighters, let alone beating them, you are by no means a hype train. also, for the record, the 1st Izzy fight (in mma) was competitive. Adesanya was clearly winning, but he was by no means dusting Alex. and the stoppage wasn't early, either

anything can happen, of course, but if Blachowicz couldn't sub Alex while holding his back for a whole round, I doubt Jiri can

Alex Pereira VS Jiri Procházka

Predictions: 11 of 13 Winners, 6 Perfect, 795 Points   |   Tied for 9th with 1 other

Alex Pereira, KO, RD2
For me, Jiri is a bit too wild on the feet to pick him against Poatan. Even though Alex is not the best defensively on the feet either, I presume this is going to be the best version of Alex we have ever seen. I am certain Alex will go into camp with an even better mindset and purpose than he has already, due to the fact that a win over Jiri will avenge his best friend Glover, as well as solidify him as one of, if not the greatest combat athlete of all time. Significant time off from Jiri with a horrific shoulder injury, and Alex having the best fight camp he’s ever had: Give me Poatan catching him in a wild exchange or on the way down from a Jiri flying knee.

@el222

The first Adesanya vs Pereira UFC fight wasn't as competitive as you think.  Adesanya was clearly ahead on the scorecards before he leg was hurt and he got stopped in the 5th round.

yes. you're right. he was clearly ahead on the scorecards, and that's why I said he was clearly winning. but that doesn't mean it wasn't competitive

@el222

I was referring to the leg kick that Pereira checked that caused the injury that lead to the 5th round TKO in the first UFC fight.  If that didn't happen, Adesanya would have won the fight by decision.

like I said, that was Pereira's doing. he checked Izzy's kick. it wasn't some random, unfortunate injury

If the ufc add one or two main card quality fights and  this card will be  a card of the year contender ,  2 title fight, Dern vs Andrade and Frevola vs BSD are good main card fights, the other fights are good prelim fight for a stacked PPV, fun fights with not a lot of name value

Even if this card is what it is, it be a great nights of fights, none of the fights are boring,

I think Stipe has more of a shot of winning then people are making out to be, He not going to get smashed on the ground like Ciryl did, Stipe is a good grappler. I know Stipe is old, but so is Jon, Jon went to a split with Thiago Santos who blown out both his knees early in the fight and most people think he lost to Dominque Reyes, And Reyes isn’t good, Surly Stipe could do the same thing they did

I think Jon should be the favourite, I just think this could be a very close decision fight, Rather have the big dog and hope for the best

Jones vs. Miocic
Stipe Miocic, DEC
Interesting fight, so far the difference between heavy weight grappling and light heavy weight grappling has been very evident. Jon coke Jones has been consistently outboxed by people with a massive reach disadvantage in all his close fights. Stipe has great boxing and is a crafty vet can definitely adapt a boxing heavy game plan. We will see how stipes grappling holds up and how jones striking and lack of power can affect stipe

Jon Jones has the highest fight IQ in all MMA, & he is one of the best strategists as well. If you are fighting him, he already knows how to exploit you. Do I think John Jones is the GOAT? No. Do I think he is a master of the art of war? Yes, because in the art of war (or this case combat) you never fight an opponent you cannot defeat, you only fight them if you have an edge - this very likely explains why he left light heavyweight

FWIW he’s currently training with Gordon Ryan

My only concern with Jones in this one is his cardio, cause we couldn't see it how it was in the last fight (damn it, Gane !)...

Stipe can be taken down, as we saw against Cormier. I think Stipe will give Jones a competitive fight on the feet, but when it hits the ground, it's gonna be Jones all day.
