Just an FYI - Champs with more than one title defense rarely get their belt back after they lose it(not stripped). There are only a few outliers - Couture, Hughes, Dillashaw, Miocic, and Nunes. I don’t count Aldo in that list as he won the interim title and was promoted to undisputed champ, then lost to Max Holloway. Granted an Izzy win isn’t out of the realm of possibilities, but the odds say otherwise. Let’s also not act like Pereira vs Adesanya was a total wash(even though it was a clear 3-1) Alex was winning the first round before Izzy rang his bell. Alex won round two. Alex went for a ****** TD and Izzy managed to reverse it, leading to a ton of top control in the third. Izzy beat a tired Alex in the fourth, but Alex had that second wind kick in in the last minute. Fifth round, well you know… To be clear - I’m not saying the result of the last fight is automatic W for Alex. I’ just saying there were more mistakes made on his end than Izzy’s and that he can he tighten up the screws and fight a better and smarter fight this time. Mentality is a big part of anything in life. Izzy was down 2-0 in Kickboxing against Alex, but this was a whole new sport, one where he had been dominate and nearly untouchable. He had that edge going into their MMA Bout. But now he’s down 3-0, 2 losses in Kickboxing, 1 in MMA, and 2 of those 3 being KO/TKOs. Point is he can’t just say this is whole new sport anymore. He’s been beaten every time they’ve fought. He can talk the talk and walk the walk, but in the back of his head he’s got to be thinking that Alex has his number. I won’t be shocked if we see a gun shy Izzy come UFC 287 and another Pereira win.
