I posted about it in this thread recently with a video link. I actually think it's a spur of the moment thing. I took it as him playing at having comitted a felony and legging it from the scene of the crime. Hilarious celebration either way.

Romanov's wrestling is levels above Volkov and his only issue will be if he gasses again

I think he can just as easily take Volkov down, whether he gets a submission or not is a different matter but he could lay and pray mostly. Should be a good fight though.

Austin Lingo is in the UFC and on this card, Youseff Zalal is not yet Zalal destroyed Lingo when they fought. This kind of thing is very common in the UFC and makes no sense. If you go 3-0 and then 0-3 you often get cut, regardless of the opposition. If you alternate wins and losses you can stay until you're 45 years old even if you're only beating cans.
That's just a very weird system.

To continue my Lingo rant, why is this the 4th last fight? There's a ton of fights that are more high level on this card, almost every one of them. I mean Assuncao Grant isn't even on the main card, that's absurd.

@gilese Ramos has a very good manager. He always gets high placement against overmatched opponents on “big” cards. He only fights on ppvs or on big fight nights outside the apex

That would have to be it because I'm just scratching my head about Lingo. I have no problem with Ramos on the main card but Lingo is a low level fighter that's got 2 wins and 1 loss all going to decision and who hasn't fought in 19 months. Not exactly the typical fast track record to get a high card placement.

Yeah this is all because of Ramos not because of lingo lol. Ramos last three bookings are against zuba on a massive ppv, Danny Chavez on one of the biggest fight nights of 2022, and then he was booked against Danny Henry on the ufcs first france card. Must be nice

I get in general what you're saying but Zalal might not be a great example. I think it's only a matter of time before he's back in the UFC. He just made a bad career move and tried to move to bantamweight when he was already a pretty good featherweight. It's not like bantamweight is any less stacked or the competition is any easier.
You could argue Lingo simply made a better career decision by not being as active and honing his skills. That's mostly the difference between fighters who string together loses vs. fighters who alternate winning/losing. Lingo is arguably a better fighter now after losing to Zalal and then stringing together back to back wins, one of which was against Luis Saldana. Saldana is no world beater but that's a solid win to keep you on the roster.
Whether he ducked them or was hurt, the reality is Lingo was booked to fight JSP and Onama since his last win. I of course can't claim he would have lost both of those fights cause they didn't happen, but I certainly wouldn't have picked him. The reality is he's had a year and half to improve as a fighter. You can only sit idle on the roster for so long before the UFC forces you to show them something.
Honestly after typing this out, a lot of it probably comes down to money. Some guys take fights cause they have too. That is all but certainly a big factor in this example. Zalal has literally been 3x more active than Lingo since they fought.
But to your overall point, guys that alternate wins and losses, regardless of how active they are or who they're fighting, are at least keeping the product interesting. Nobody is interested to see fighters who reach 0-3 or 0-4 losing streaks except in extremely rare occurrences with well established fighters, but even those guys have limits (Tony Ferguson is currently pushing that boundary).

As much as I’d like not to I agree with Andrew on this. Romanov will take down Volkov. Unless Romanov completely changes how he fights this fight should be over early.

In regards to money, I was referring to the fact that Zalal has 7 fights since he fought Lingo, where as Lingo has fought twice. Zalal may or may not take fights more frequently for money, I can't say for sure. I sure hope Lingo doesn't fight for money, because he's gotta be dead broke by now.
