I dont know if you should do too much MMA math with Derrick Lewis fights. He's simultaneously a championship caliber brawler aaaaand a fat guy with a bad back and questionable cardio who has whatever the body punch equivalent of a "glass jaw" is. A glass stomach?

Lewis looked like a guy on his way out who the sport passed by, and then he didn't? Suddenly he looks great and motivated and a threat to everyone. And back and forth. Which one did Latifi fight, yknow?

Even if Latifi fought the worst version of Derrick (don't think he did, just look at how Lewis did against Tybura and even Ivanov), Boser had tons of issues with wrestlers back in ACA, and he's not fought one since debuting in the UFC.

Ilir seems like a live dog given how he's durable enough to withstand whatever Tanner might throw at him, and should be strong enough to boss him around.

Having said that I've got like 94 underdog picks here so, unless we get a Bigfoot/Mir type card, I'm bound to be wrong in a few. Harris over Tybura is probably one of them.

Maybe if you listened to his breakdowns you'd have above a 52% picking rate. You picked Arlovski by KO over Aspinall, that's a pretty big head scratcher if you ask me.

Predictions: 8 of 13 Winners, 3 Perfect, 505 Points   |   Tied for 417th

Rozenstruik vs. Sakai
Jairzinho Rozenstruik, TKO, R3
Sakai's chin hasn't gotten cracked but he hasn't quite faced a power puncher to the level of Rozenstruik. I think when we reach the later rounds and the movement and output start going down for Sakai, probably down 2 rounds, Rozenstruik will catch him with a bomb. Gane is one of the hardest HWs to hit because of his movement, clinch game and ability to fight at range so I attribute Rozenstruik's bad performance to that.

Harris vs. Tybura
Walt Harris, TKO, R1
If this reaches round 2, Tybura will either win a 3 round decision or get a finish because Harris is too tired. I believe he gets starched in round 1. He's gotten hit a good amount by Rothwell and Hardy in round 1 and lost both those rounds on the judges scorecards. I do not think if he starts off slow and Harris lands, he will be able to eat a bomb from him. Volkov beating him up bad has definitely deteriorated his stock a little but I believe he returns to form here. Something to note, he left his small gym in Alabama to train at Xtreme Couture.

Dolidze vs. Staropoli
Roman Dolidze, SUB, R2
Dolidze is a former 205er with solid grappling against a guy that struggled with takedown defense at 170. I think Dolidze will be able to control him on the ground and ultimately get a submission victory.

Ponzinibbio vs. Baeza
Santiago Ponzinibbio, DEC
The way Ponzi fights it feels like when he gets in his groove he really starts packing up the volume and starts landing. Last fight he had been out for a while and I believe he just couldn't find that against Leech. Baeza looks very well rounded as a prospect and trains out of a strong gym too so I think this will be a close fight but gonna go with Ponzi to rebound with a victory. If he looks slow and old like he did last time out he'll lose.

Todorović vs. Rodrigues
Gregory Rodrigues, TKO, R1
Dusko is probably the quicker and more versatile striker but he's coming off a fight not that long ago where he just got absolutely beat up and knocked down multiple times. I can't see him eating a punch from Rodrigues especially with that hands low style. The Maki Pitolo fight was a much better

Breese vs. Arroyo
Tom Breese, DEC
Tom Breese should win this but I can see an upset here, I can't pick Arroyo because of how awful his cardio looked last fight but he could very well have fixed that to an extent. I could also see him catching Breese too. But these are just hypotheticals so Breese is the much safer pick. Hopefully he mixes in his ground game too.

Amirkhani vs. Kirk
Makwan Amirkhani, SUB, R1
Kirk is real good but Amirkhani is a real solid grappler. Don't know if he can stuff the early takedown and if he doesn't the fight is wraps.

De La Rosa vs. Lipski
Montana De La Rosa, DEC
Tossup fight. Lipski is the better striker but has god awful takedown defense. She got beat up on the ground last time out by a girl that losses every single one of her fights cause of grappling. De La Rosa takedowns win a decision.

Boser vs. Latifi
Tanner Boser, DEC
Not high on Boser but considering this a lock. Boser will beat him with low kicks on the feet and stay in and out of range with Latifi. LaBeefy only got takedown on Lewis when he threw flying knee or wild hook and clinched up on him. If Latifi

Trinaldo vs. Salikhov
Muslim Salikhov, DEC
Trinaldo is old and moving up a weightclass it's really tough to pick him here even though I thought Salikhov lost his last fight. I think Salikhov is gonna land the bigger strikes and win rounds based on that. He might drop Trinaldo once or twice but Trinaldo has a crazy recovery.

Patrick vs. Jones
Mason Jones, TKO, R2
Jones is a real solid well rounded prospect. Patrick is gonna fail to get it to the ground and I think Jones will beat him up on the feet.

Moroz vs. Fiorot
Manon Fiorot, DEC
I could really see Moroz winning with her volume but I think Fiorot being bigger and stronger will mix in her clinch game along with landing the bigger strikes and win this.

Zalal vs. Woodson
Sean Woodson, DEC
Confident in this. I think this fight goes exactly like Zalal's last fight. He the less accurate striker relative to his opponent and he can't get the fight to the ground.

Puelles vs. Leavitt
Jordan Leavitt, SUB, R1
Puelles is young and could have made some progressions but Leavitt's grappling has just looked fantastic here. Could be potential for an upset considering Leavitt has only faced the worst of the worst and Puelles has good conditioning but Leavitt will probably just sub him early.

Harris vs. Tybura
Marcin Tybura, DEC
This is a classic striker vs grappler matchup. Harris has elite power in his hands, even for a heavyweight landing a knockdown on over 3% of his significant strikes landed. Tybura averages 1.62 takedowns per 15 minutes and Harris has never won a UFC fight in which he was taken down (0-5 record when he's taken down). Harris path to victory is a 1st or second round KO while Tybura needs to use his grappling and get the fight to the ground in order to have the best chance to win. I'm picking Tybura by decision, advanced stats breakdown video is attached. Enjoy!

Rozenstruik vs. Sakai
Jairzinho Rozenstruik, TKO, R3
I've honestly no idea who wins this but I'm certain we'll see a KO one way or another! I'm just picking Jairzinho Rozenstruik because I feel that his last few opponants have been of a way better standard than Augusto Sakai's recent opponants even if the results haven't been as favourable for him.

Dolidze vs. Staropoli
Roman Dolidze, TKO, R3
Roman Dolidze to win a decision is the logical prediction but I've got a gut feeling that I can't shake off that Dolidze will finish it late.

I know we saw Santiago Ponzinibbio get knocked out in his last fight but I do still remember how much vicious power he has in his hands.  He has knockedout some iron chins such as Neil Magny, Mike Perry, Gunnar Nelson... we all know how hard it is to finish Court McGee... Santiago is the only person to finish him in 30 pro fights.

My bet is on Santiago Ponzinibbio  to come back strong and knock Miguel Baeza out cold... maybe even in the first!

Moroz vs. Fiorot
Manon Fiorot, DEC
This is a great fight between a 5-3 UFC veteran and a very bright prospect who has a 6-1 overall record with 5 finishes and Manon's only loss was by split decision at a catchweight of 138 pounds. Manon being a southpaw is going to disrupt Moroz's boxing which is her strongest weapon. Manon has a karate striking style, she maintains distance well and constantly moves. She had a 79% striking defense in her debut against Leonardo. Even though this is a massive step up in competition for Fiorot I still see her superior power and varied striking attacks making the difference here allowing her to grind out a decision. I break down the fight in detail in the video linked below.

Rozenstruik vs. Sakai
Jairzinho Rozenstruik, TKO, R5
Rozenstruik and Sakai battle it out with Sakai’s gas tank slowly crumbling and Rozenstruik getting a late finish.

Harris vs. Tybura
Marcin Tybura, DEC
Marcin Tybura by gassing Harris out just like Hardy.

Dolidze vs. Staropoli
Roman Dolidze, DEC
Good for Staropoli on stepping in on short notice.

Todorović vs. Rodrigues
Duško Todorović, TKO, R1
Could be a banger of a fight!

Breese vs. Arroyo
Tom Breese, TKO, R2
Should be an easy walk in the park for Tom Breese if he defends those takedowns.

Is this fight a trap? I mean if Puelles keeps it on the feet, I feel like Leavitt doesn't have that raw toughness in him to withstand the pressure. I think he can take him down early and acquire enough top control to win a decision, but man something tells me Puelles is live here.

Puelles vs Leavitt

Predictions: 7 of 13 Winners, 3 Perfect, 440 Points   |   Tied for 1052nd

I feel Jordan is being a little overhyped. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a charming, albeit kinda weird character. His grappling is pretty slick and I enjoy watching it.

That being said: Who has Jordan really even beaten? The biggest name on his resume is a CTE ridden Matt Wiman. I’ve also watched a bit of tape on his regional, and it’s not impressive. He struggles to come up with a new game plan once his takedowns are stuffed, and his standup his Chase Hooper levels of ass. Any form of offense his opponent attempts, Jordan often leaves his chin straight up in the air and drops his hands for takedowns A LOT. And frankly, I don’t think this poor standup is out of laziness or lack of interest on Jordan’s part, I think he’s just too nice to actually knock someone out. In his mind, putting someone’s lights out with a choke is less damaging than blunt force trauma, especially when he knows 9/10 times they’re going to tap. He even admitted he didn’t intend to hurt Wiman that bad with his knockout.

Now, with all that said, I could still see Jordan winning this, but Puelles shouldn’t be slept on. He doesn’t show up very often but when he does, he’s got a lot of heart, a lot of stamina, and an all-rounded movelist. And god knows what kind of new tricks he has up his sleeves after his long absence. Last time he was gone this long, his absolutely dominated his last opponent to an absurd degree. Puelles by DEC.
