Down Hill Predictions

Predictions: 5 of 12 Winners, 1 Perfect, 290 Points   |   Tied for 1689th

Here are my predictions:

- darren till win via decision. No way are the judges going to give the win to masivdal if it goes the distance in London. Most likely will go the distance. Both have good chin. Stephen Thompson was robbed. Jorge will as well. Confidence: 90%

- gunnar nelson win via submission. On the feet striking nobody would have the advantage. If they are purely striking it wil go the distance. On the ground is where gunnar holds the advantage and that's where the fight will stop. Leon has decent takedown defense and will most likely stop the initial takedowns from the clinch but eventually gunnar will take his back and get the rear naked choke. Confidence: 60-70.

- volkan win via ko under 2.5 rounds. UPSET. Dominick reyes 0 will go. Dominick's lack of defense is going to get him clipped. He throws a lot of head kicks and leaves himself off balance. A power puncher like volkan will eventually KO him. Dominick has been caught with clean punches before because of his lack of defense. Volkan has the more durable chin imo. Confidence: 40-50% mainly because he's on a 2 fight losing streak and endurance will fade. In 3 round fight shouldn't be that much of a problem though since reyes isn't a grappler. It will be purely striking. Puncher vs kicker. I'm going with the puncher ftw.

- Nathaniel wood win via tko. Nathaniel out boxes and mixes in his wrestling with ground n pound. Probably go the distance but Nathaniel has a high finishing rate and aggression to end the fight so I'm going with tko. Confidence: 75% Nathaniel is the better boxer, heavier handed, better wrestler. Jose has the slight size advantage and has better jiu-jitsu. I see Nathaniel taking jose down while jose goes for submission attempts off his back. Don't see jose having success off his back. Only way jose wins is if he takes Nathaniel's back and out wrestles him. I'm going with nathaniel.

- Claudio silva win via submission in Rd 1. Danny roberts has no ground game. However, he is younger, has the size advantage, better endurance, fought more consistently, and is the superior striker. Claudio is old (36) and has no head movement. He only fought 1x in 5 years and that was in 2018 win over nodding taleb. If danny can avoid the takedowns on Rd 1 then most likely Claudia's endurance will fade in Rd 2. It's either danny win by ko OR Claudio powers slam hims to the ground and from there submit him in Rd 1. Confidence: 40-50% would be higher but Claudio is old, not a good striker, size disadvantage, questionable endurance after Rd 1, all fights start on the feet. It's very possible danny the underdog ko's him. More confident this fight ends by stoppage. Will not go the distance.

- jack marshman win via submission in Rd 2 or 3... probably in rd 2. John Phillips has no ground game and endurance for only Rd 1. However, he is a power puncher. If jack can take him down and extend the fight over 1 round then he will most likely win by submission. In the first 3 minutes of the fight I'll give the edge to John Phillips cause he's physically stronger and the one stalking his opponent throwing power punches. Confidence: 0% both have a lot of losses & neither has had a win since 2016. Jack gets rocked by punches in almost all his fights so against a power puncher he could get ko'ed in Rd 1. More confident this fight end in stoppage. Will not go the full distance cause John Phillips has no endurance for Rd 2 yet alone Rd 3.

- Arnold Allen win via split decision. Between the two, Jordan Rinaldi is more likely to win the fight by stoppage due to his aggression and imo has the better chin and better endurance. Although on his record he has more losses via stoppage. Close fight. Bias judges give the win to the hometown favorite. Confidence: 25-30% Arnold is still young in his mma career. Not confident on him because he isn't aggressive for the finish and he does just enough to win the early rounds (1 and 2).

- Joe duffy win via submission under 2.5 rounds. Confidence: 90-95% Joe is the superior boxer and jiu-jitsu (by a lot). Wrestling about the same. Joe is more likely to initiate the takedowns and clinch. Marc is physically stronger, explosive with his kicks, and the more athletic fighter but in terms of skills wise in mma Joe duffy is superior in every category. Joe has more ways to end the fight. Marc only has one way and that's by using kicks. His boxing is weak, when taken down he has no offense, has pretty good takedown defense relying mainly on his natural athleticism and power, and can't fight moving backwards when opponents pressure him. Very similar to Edson Barbosa.

- saparbeg vs nick. No idea. Nick has the same mma record as saparbeg before he was in the ufc...undefeated fighting cans. Not sure how good or not nick is. Saparbeg was undefeated as well until he fought ufc caliber opponents. Both guys fought cans outside the ufc. Their opponents outside the ufc had terrible records. From watching Nick's fights outside the ufc: no head movement, has a solid chin since he's still young (24), aggressive, doesn't know how to pace himself, will gas out by Rd 2 due to his fighting style, doesn't set-up his punches or kicks... every shot are power shots, he's open for takedowns, his wrestling is weak... hasn't fought a wrestler in his career so far, and will most likely lose within his first 2 ufc fights. His 0 will go. He's basically a younger version of saparbeg but without the wrestling background. This fight will most likely be a brawl in Rd 1. Depends on who lands first, whose chin will hold up longer, and endurance. Not a technical fight whatsoever. If u r betting, arbitrage and bet on both of them.

- ian heinisch win via split decision. UPSET. Tom breeze is younger, taller, has more high level experience, and is the superior boxer. However, Ian is the superior grappler (wrestling) and will most likely make this a dog fight by clinching with Tom and look to take him down and probably will succeed in doing so. Mma math says tom should win by outboxing ian for 3 full rounds. However, i think Ian's wrestling and aggressive style will steal him the later rounds and might get the judges to give him the victory. Confidence: 25%

- dan ige win via decision or submission in Rd 3. UPSET. Confidence: 40-50% dan has the superior jiu-jitsu and endurance imo. Danny Henry is the slightly more technical striker but leaves his chin wide open for counters. He got dropped and nearly ko'ed by Daniel teymur but survived and had better cardio. Dan ige isn't a good striker but he's effective enough where he sneaks in power punches every once in a while because his opponents are preoccupied by defending his takedowns. Dan's offensive wrestling isn't stellar as well. Danny Henry's takedown defense isn't all too great either. Dan will eventually succeed in taking danny down and I think that's where he'll win.

- molly mccann win via tko ground n pound. Confidence: 40-50%. Both ladies have no ground game, moreso for molly. Priscilla is more likely to survive on the bottom pulling guard than molly. If molly gets takendown she'll immediately lose. Whereas for Priscilla she had more fight in her if taken down. Really depends on who lands on top first. The first person to get the first takedown is most likely going to be the winner. Molly is more likely to clinch and use her raw strength to take Priscilla to the ground so I'll say she lands on top first.

- mike grundy win via decision or submission. UPSET. Nad is durable, good chin, decent everywhere in mma, nothing spectacular about his fighting style or skillset. Mike grundy is making his ufc debut. Mike has a high level wrestling background and imo is the better wrestler. No idea who will win. Most likely will go the full distance based on both guys being durable and good at scrambling. Between the two, Mike is more likely to win the fight by stoppage (submission) but nad is difficult to submit. Confidence: 0% since mike is making his ufc debut while we've seen nad win 2x in the ufc already. I do see mike out wrestling nad in terms of offensive wrestling but not sure if he can do that to him for 3 rounds as nad is difficult to keep down. Nad will most likely scramble back up and look for his own takedowns. Mike's fighting style is pretty much wrestling. What happens if he can't take his opponent down or keep them down? Nad isn't a power puncher but I would give him the edge in striking as he's more confident striking than mike.

so in summary the underdog upsets:
- Volkan
- Maybe Danny Roberts but it has to be by KO and the fight go past the first round.
- Maybe John Phillips but it has to be by KO in rd 1.... leaning on no.
- Maybe Saparbeg... leaning on no.
- Ian Heinisch
- Dan Ige
- Mike Grundy

Till vs. Masvidal
Darren Till, TKO, R2
Till will bonce back in this one and get the win!

Edwards vs. Nelson
Leon Edwards, DEC
I believe Leon is one of the must underrated guys in the division. Think he is gonna get this one by decision.

Wood vs. Quiñones
Nathaniel Wood, TKO, R1
I believe there is a massive skill level gap in this fight. Really like Nathaniel Wood.

Breese vs. Heinisch
Tom Breese, TKO, R2
This is a big test for Breese. was impressed by Heinisch in his last fight.

Narimani vs. Grundy
Nad Narimani, DEC
Good to see Grundy in the UFC. But this is a hard test

Narimani vs. Grundy
Nad Narimani, DEC
Two similar fighters in size and build. Narimani is more well rounded. Grundy needs to get takedowns to win where Narimani path to victory is more diverse. This most likely goes the distance. I will take Nad by dec. by being able to keep it standing and out pointing in the striking.

@ free agreed. You can tell by his body language that he's very jittery. Doesn't mean he'll lose...but it's definitely better for us Gamebred pickers than not.

I’ve had Till by Decision because Masvidal has a great chin but think he could put him away in the later rounds.

i'm taking Masvidal because I don't think Till is built for WW, he's a proper mw, and will gas if he doesn't get Jorge out of there. I expect a lot of punches to be thrown in this one. I can definitely see Til hurting Masvidal, emptying the tank for no result, and getting finished in a subsequent round. Also Til has NO ground game, and Jorge has underrated wrestling and TD. He can definitely get Til to the mat, and has much superior conditioning. Better hands than Til.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 4 Perfect, 530 Points   |   Tied for 143rd

Till vs. Masvidal
Darren Till, DEC
masvidal could win this on the ground, but his ego probably keeps him standing and on the wrong end of the volume inequality.

Edwards vs. Nelson
Leon Edwards, DEC
cowboy was kickin ass for a bit and i think leon will play things a lot smarter. gunnar's striking is overrated.

Oezdemir vs. Reyes
Dominick Reyes, TKO, R2
volkan's gas tank and chin are definitely suspect, a rangy guy like reyes should find his opportunity.

Wood vs. Quiñones
Nathaniel Wood, TKO, R2
quinones is a little underrated, but he really hasn't beaten anyone of note so it's easy to see why wood's 2 finishes look good in comparison.

Roberts vs. Silva
Claudio Silva, SUB, R1
danny roberts is a step down from nordine i think.

Marshman vs. Phillips
Jack Marshman, DEC
i get that phillips is a swing for the fences type guy, but i don't think he belongs on the main card. he might catch marshman, but i'll pick jack and say his more well rounded game gives him more opportunities to attack.

Allen vs. Rinaldi
Arnold Allen, DEC
rinaldi is a good test for allen at this point. i think it's gonna be closer than expected.

Diakiese vs. Duffy
Joe Duffy, SUB, R2
duffy should have his way if he chooses to take it to the ground and i think his striking is good enough to set up the eventual entry.

Safarov vs. Negumereanu
Saparbeg Safarov, DEC
i just hate picking hyped up regional fighters that have been beating absolute scrubs, so i'll take the hyped up regional fighter that was beating scrubs of an ever so slightly higher caliber. they'll probably both get tired and the new kid will get a big ko though.

Breese vs. Heinisch
Ian Heinisch, TKO, R2
i think breese has been overhyped after finishing lesser opponents and heinisch is being underrated because he's just some jailbird raw talent with heart. if strickland kept breese conservative, ian's pressure can do the same.

Ige vs. Henry
Dan Ige, DEC
kind of a coin flip. feel like ige's ground game should play a role, but it won't matter if he gets blasted standing.

Cachoeira vs. McCann
Priscila Cachoeira, DEC
i'm not buying into whatever weak hype mccann has.

Narimani vs. Grundy
Nad Narimani, TKO, R1
they like nad and grundy has 0 ko's so all signs point to them teeing one up for narimani.
