I don't see the Dong having any major issues with this one ... Hathaway coming off a year and a half layoff which even without it I'd give the nod to the Korean stud ...

First we'll have to see if Hathaway even makes it to the fight ... dude seems to get injured in camps quite a bit ...

Why Hathaway? Dong should be fighting someone higher, better. I thought Dong vs. Ellenberger would have been perfect.

Dong got the shaft on this one. He should be getting a top 10 guy or at least top 15 not a barely top 30

So what your saying is Dong got the Dong on this one?

The Dong rose to the top 11-15 or even penetrated the top 10 with his last pounding of Silva. The Dong deserves better...

I'm not a fan of the Dong like most of you, so I try and keep the Dong out of my mouth. I give Hathaway a decent chance against Dong.

John Hathaway is a ridiculously underrated fighter; he definitely possesses the potential to stop the rising Dong.

Looks like they are stacking this card a bit more than the Singapore one. Tokudome/Chul Nam is on it now too

I might have picked Hawthaway in this if he weren't coming off such a long lay off.  Stun Gun by decision.

Martin Kampmann or Jake Ellenberger would of been more exciting named opponents. The winner of the Saffiedine/Lim would of made sense too. Yoshihiro Akiyama should also be on this card.

No, seriously where the hell has Akiyama been?

I don't think Dong would fight Lim unless it was a #1,contenders bout or title shot. Thought he should've gotten Kampmann

The UFC loves Dong Kim like they loved Jon Fitch and Yushin Okami.  And for the same reasons.  They don't want nor need tough smotherers to serve as speed bumbs for the exciting strikers.  They just are not going in that direction.

The way you get rid of them is to not feed them guys on their level but feed them tough fighters WAY down the ladder.  Like Dong got Erick Silva and Siyar Bahadurzada.  Tough nobodies.

Plus Dong had the gall and chutzpah to criticize the UFC on fighter salaries.
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/8/30/3279649/ufc-fighter-pay-dong-hyun-kim-stun-gun-asian-treatment

Plus, last I checked, Dong receives a $40,000 salary to show and another $40,000 to win.  That's a nifty $80,000 to take out their up-and-coming strikers.

Dong deserved Jake Shields, but he's not available.  The UFC is hoping Hector Lombard takes out Shields.  They could have also given him Demian Maia, but the UFC is praying Rory MacDonald take him out.

So, now they give a Top 10 guy a Top 30 opponent, but a very tough one.  Is anyone paying attention to trends and patterns here?

How else do you logically explain giving a Top 10 man an opponent ranked near 30th?

Silva was barely top 10 when Kim beat him, so thats irrelevant here. Hathaway won 3 in a row, Kims on a tear again. No one else is available right now, you said it yourself. Hathaway is the best Kim can get right now, and he obviously wants to fight sooner than later. Theres no conspiracy dude, just let it be.

You're just so naive, man.  Silva was NOWHERE within sniffing distance of Top 10 when Dong beat him.

I happen to conduct a WW thread and I didn't even have Erick ranked in the Top 20.  And I like him!

Some people can't see the forest for the trees.  You were probably wrong on Fitch and Okami too.

Kampmann is TOTALLY available.  But that would give Dong a Top 10 man, which they don't want to give him!

Wake up and smell reality, slowpoke.
