What I'm saying is skill wise, Vinny is far better than Eddie. Eddie may have developed the rubber guard, but Vinny is one of the most skilled grapplers in the world currently.

@Wish And you're talking about Vinny beating Gracie's in this weaker generation...Eddie tapped out Royler.

That's like saying why would Paquaio train with Freddy Roach? Roach wasn't an outstanding boxer by any means, but he is one of the best trainers in the world.

Probably because Vinny has no way of learning high level 10th planet JJ elsewhere.

well Freddie Roach was trained also by the great Eddie Futch, and pulled out a 40-13 record, so not bad. especially for his nickname being "The Choir Boy"

Guys...Eddie made his name off beating Royler. Royler dominated at a time when the Gracies were the premier grapplers in the world, where now Vinny is dominating at a time when like 100x more people are studying grappling and the caliber of grapplers is much much much higher.

Eddie is an amazing grappler, but I think people don't realize how amazing Vinny is on the ground. He beat freaking Werdum, who is even more accomplished than Royler.

This is what my stupid ass gets for picking R2 out of the sudden - no Perfects. Happy for both Rumble and Andrei though.

Every school of grapplers has their own flavor and a certain style of techniques that are unique to them. The 10th Planet system (and those that instruct and practice it) isn't necessarily better or worse than traditional bjj or any other form of groundwork, but it does focus much more on the mastery of certain aspects than other arts (specifically, working out of the rubber guard and half guard).

The outcome of a competition between Vinny and Eddie is irrelevant to the nature of why they would be inclined to train together. I'm sure they both have plenty to learn from each other, and the experience and respect they share is much more important than any **** measuring contest their fans could slobber about on the internet =P
