Obiya is a former DEEP Lightweight Champion, having won the vacant title by defeating Ryan Bow at DEEP - 24 Impact by unanimous decision. In his first defense however, Obiya would lose the title to Kazunori Yokota at DEEP - 28 Impact, losing via unanimous decision.
