The second bout to air on the MTV 2 televised main card featured Ricco "Suave" Rodriguez taking on Seth "The Silverback" Petruzelli in a heavyweight matchup. Both fighters were making the debut in the Bellator organization.
Rodriguez attacked with high kick and then Petruzelli a low kick to begin the fight. Petruzelli then attempted a front kick and on the next exchange both fighters opened up with big punches. Petruzelli then nailed Rodriguez in the cup with a kick, resulting in a break in the fight. On the restart Petruzelli brought the fight to the ground but then opted to stand up and out of the guard of Rodriguez. Petruzelli threw a head kick and looked to be holding his own standing. A solid low kick from Petruzelli and then a pair of big punches. Rodriguez clinched and pressed "The Silverback" against the cage, working for a takedown. Petruzelli defended nicely and landed another good set of strikes. A beautiful spinning back kick landed from Petruzelli had Rodriguez wobbly, and as he moved forward towards Petruzelli he ate a monster right hand that put him flat on the canvas. Petruzelli dove on top with double hammerfists and forced the stoppage from Dan Miragliotta in a huge win for the fighter.
The official end came at 4:21 of the first round for the winner by TKO, Seth Petruzelli. Speaking to Jimmy Smith in the post-fight interview, Petruzelli commented, "As you saw from the end you saw how happy I was... Connecticut are you happy for the knockout or what... I tell everyone I hate fighting those huge guys, I walk around at around 220 and I'm coming for that belt at light heavyweight."
