He's still cutting 20-30 pounds from his original weight in high attitude when he's not used to it. Weight cutting is still unnatural and take a toll when you are not used to doing it in less oxygen

There is a huge difference between losing weight throughout camp and cutting water weight on fight week. By your logic, Pereira was completing a 70+ pound weight cut to compete at MW? Just completely not true. He walks around roughly 230 pounds and he said in the embedded episode that he is already on weight, no weight cutting - specifically water cutting, which is what takes the toll on your body. You can slowly reduce calorie intake while training throughout camp to hit target weight with little to no decrease in performance. You can't expect to cut 30 pounds in 5 days and expect to see no decrease in performance. Losing weight is not unnatural, bizarre take.

Huh? He's still cutting 30 lbs throughout camp and was cutting 70 lbs throughout camp at middleweight. At the end of the day, he still is going to weigh around 215/220 by fight night. It's not like his weight is going to stay down once he's done with the whole process. He's still cutting weight and not trying to lose weight. There's just ways to do it more safely bc cutting all of it during fight week is not safe nor healthy. It still takes a toll on your cardio when you aren't eating your traditional diet. If Periera is truly just losing the weight, then he'll weigh around 206 to 210 on fight night which I don't believe is going to happen. It's still cutting weight

Your original point was in reference to how drastic his previous weight cuts are and how you expect it to really hamper his performance, amplified by altitude. My point is there is an enormous difference between a reduced caloric intake of daily calories for example for 6-8 weeks to get him to target weight (which he has said himself, he is already at) and limiting his body to probably less calories for the same time + cutting 25 pounds of water weight within the last 3-4 days before the fight. One will hamper performance, one will not. If he doesn't have to cut water weight and deplete his body that close to the fight, you saying "Poatan still cuts a lot of weight despite the weight class change" is just nonsensical, you can make that argument for every fighter getting on the scales bar Volkanovski at lightweight....

That's more so what I meant just worded it poorly and true, completely forgot about that one.

It was kinda like Moraes vs Loughnane with how intense the striking battle got.

Giles v Bonfim +250 on Giles just seems like a real nice dog moneyline to hit, guys fought so many high level fighters and in different weight classes.

I'm not crazy confident but to the eye it looks a solid line to have a dog shot at no??

We did see the other Bonfim bro get styled on so with it being MMA anything can happen

They really did Aldo dirty with an altitude fight against Merab for his retirement fight. I mean *** lol.

Ah I've had a second look upon that and I can see what you mean just of the basis of tapology, I was going to go back and ponder on Bonfim on the feet but I think seeing the weight change for Giles and the lack of success he's had, this may be a pass position now

The UFC decided to have another card in Salt Lake and figured with the high altitude, let's tilt it toward the heavier weight classes that will struggle the most to get some air in their lungs.

Umar vs Merab would go similar to Arman vs Islam.  It will be an amazing grappling match but Umar has the better striking/jiu jitsu so Umar would probably win that by decision or even a late sub.

Umar is unstoppable. A dagestani with all of their grappling who also has elite striking.

I love both of these guys a lot so its gonna be a tough watch. I just think that Dustin is a level above. Both these guys are always in fun fights. I think Justin has amassed a lot more damage over the years. He said he’s changed his approach n that but im not sure if it will work against Dustin. Anytime Justin has fought against the top, top guys in the division, he has fallen short. I expected Justin to lose against Fiziev. I thought Fiziev being more controlled and so technical with his striking would cause big problems for the more wild Justin. I was obviously wrong and Gaethje showed out. In the meantime, Dustin had the two Conor fights. I think those fights did a lot for Dustins confidence. He also managed to finish Chandler when Justin went to decision. Man… this fight could really go in any way you could imagine. Both men are dogs and never shy away from meeting in the middle. I think the BMF belt is a nice little addition to this fight. I think the winner of this fight, especially if one wins in spectacular fashion, gets to fight for the belt next. Thats huge. Lot of pressure… and i like Dustin more in these pressure situations. I think team ATT are master tacticians and can adjust on the fly too. Im picking Dustin to win. I see it being a finish. Maybe even quicker than last time they fought. Don’t think Dustin will want to stand there for too long and take those calf kicks again. I can even see a sub win for Dustin. Just think both these guys are too proud to start grappling. Don’t think either guy will go for a takedown, but a wild scramble could present a choke opportunity.
