Why are you picking Mayes? Possibly the worst HW on the roster now Vanderaa and Hunsucker are gone

There are 4 potentially 5 good dogs on this card

Blackshear

Abubakar
Reed

Potentially Souza or Gordon

Not saying they win, but they are good dogs

Predictions: 10 of 13 Winners, 5 Perfect, 680 Points   |   Tied for 22nd with 3 others

I don't think he belongs to the trash category. He is fast and explosive for a HW. It all comes down to if he uses it or not. We've seen an endless procession of bad HWs lose to Arlovski because they don't or can't use their physical advantages and get sucked into a slow point fight where Arlovski just has more skills.

Fighters that try to run Arlovski over at this stage in his career have a good chance of a first round finish. Arlovski is on a 2 fight-skid now (Collier win was absolute robbery) and is 44 years old. I don't mind betting Mayes as a dog here. Wouldn't bet him at current line though since it seems to have moved to a pickem.

As bottom of the barrel bad as Don'Tale Mayes is, he can and should beat 44 year old Arlovski.

If Arlovski wins, he’ll be the tied 3rd or 4th oldest fighter to win a ufc fight, Randy Coutour was 48, Dan Henderson was 45, Aleski Olenic was either 44 or 45,

Arlovski can do it because Mayes is pretty ****, Arlovski is pretty old , but unless he done,  he can beat the **** heavyweight, he was on a bit of a win streak before his last loss,

Mayes is awful but it’s so hard to trust a 44 year old with the amount of damage arlovski has. Just because he’s developed a more defensively sound game in recent years doesn’t take away from the fact his jaw is glass. He’s also barely scraping by decisions against the worst of the worst at 265

The UFC like Arlovski. They are giving him Mayes for a reason. And watch Arlovskis last fight closely. He went down but nothing clipped him. He did not get hit. So all this talk about his chin being gone is not accurate. I think he twisted something, went down and got choked out.

Also Mayes does nothing. He looked absolutely awful against that pudding Sakai.

Give me the ultra vet who is much more skilled and the UFC and judges love any day against the worst HW in the UFC

Rah cmon, he’s been fighting since the 90s and has been brutally slept 11 times & dropped countless more. That chin has never been good and is getting worse with age. There was a time in his 20s when he was getting slept almost every fight & people were calling for him to retire. The only thing that’s better over time is he’s learned how to play defense

You guys are way more down on Mayes than me. Well as Ayy said, even if he is trash, of which I disagree (for a HW), he should have a good shot against Arlovski at this point in the latter's career.

My main issue with that fight is mayes is stupid enough to give arlovski the exact fight he wants. He doesn’t have the iq to know that if he comes out guns blazing there’s a good chance he finishes Andrey. He’s gonna give him the low volume point fight he wants and probably won’t even attempt a takedown

@Rah123   agreed lots of good underdogs on this card. Only downside is that a parlay is far too risky compared to the Dern/Hill card.

Gregory, unlike a lot of people on here who just kiss your ass I will tell you what I think. Personally I think you have created something special here, that even the room temperature IQ characters like Tartara and Mezzor can enjoy (where is he btw? What a loss to the MMA community that he isn't posting his incorrect picks regularly)

While I get the chaos in the forums was getting excessive, and I agree I was part of it, I do think a lot of people on here do respect when a firm line is drawn in the sand and do respect it when you lay down that line. That said, some of the recent moderation is a little overboard. Half the fun on this forum is the arguments and the ribbing and ragging of those endowed with less brain capacity (see above - Mezzor/Tartara).

I agree when it's excessive and becoming unbearable and detracting from the actual discussion on events something should be done. But please don't let this place become one of those politically correct forums where everyone is afraid to say anything. I have faith you won't let that happen
