Mendonca is a lock.

Mendonca has a certain amount of potential because he's tough, has a good chin and is well versed in Muay Thai and BJJ but he's still very very green in MMA

the Javid fight was an eye opener. Javid having literally one of the most mediocre performances of his career was able to veeeery comfortably handle Mendonca anywhere the fight went. outstruck him, outwrestled him, outgrappled him and outpaced him

Castaneda is obviously not on the level of Javid but in this specific matchup he's more technical on the feet than Mendonca, has good enough wrestling to fall back to and his bjj is decent enough to deal with mendonca's scrambles and guard. Mendonca has lots of power in his hands so I'd say he has a little bit more of a chance than just a "puncher's chance" in this fight but still, Castaneda is too composed, too well rounded and technical enough to win this fight

sirs, please explain the love for mendonca, Castaneda is no slouch 

people are experiencing what is called "recency bias" when it comes to castaneda vs mendonca



they have the picture of castaneda getting bodied in r2 against santos (same camp as mendonca) and giving up because of exhaustion but without remembering that he 10-8'd santos in r1 and without knowing that he was fighting with bronchitis

they're also looking at the mendonca vs javid scorecards and one of the judges scored that fight 29-28 which is absolutely insane to have scored a round for mendonca in that fight. javid easily dominated him from start to finish so they're stuck thinking mendonca actually stole a round from a very talented fighter like javid

the result of those things is recency bias making people think castaneda is worse than he really is and mendonca better than he really is

There is no love for Medonca. He is a walking performance bonus for Sexi Mexi

I think Mendonca will be very dangerous in round 1. If it goes past that I don't see him having enough energy left to pose problems for a savvy vet like Castañeda who is still in his prime.
I'm interested to see prop bets lines here because Mendonca has never been finished and Castañeda has a 100% finish rate in his wins in the UFC and going back to his last match outside of the UFC.
Sometimes bookies go hard on one particular angle.

I spent the entire last day (my free time anyway) capping Castañeda v Mendonca, a wasted day, just another day in the life of a capper.

Gotta be honest, I'm a little confused how Jim Miller was a bigger dog against Klein than he is against Gordon.

@jrey don’t cry, I never said I hated him. People just like to hype him on here; he’s really not that good. He’s your average chute boxe guy except Mendonca doesn’t have any head movement whatsoever. Castaneda was gonna run through him
