@Jazzy it isn't an issue of consent, it's an issue of the rule of Law, and corruption. Stephens quite plainly knew he couldn't continue, and this was obvious from the first inspection. He literally couldn't open his eye. Fight should have been called right then and there. What shouldn't have happened is Herb Dean scurrilosuly trying to pressure Stephens into fighting by saying 'oh, let's see after five minutes--that's five minutes before the ******* doctor was called in! For all Herb Knew, their might have been ocular damage occurring in that time that may have resulted in permanent blindness. Did Herb give a ****? **** No! He was more concerned with the main continuing. 

And as a rational agent, the only reason he would do that if if he stood to benefit from doing so in some way. He has a relationship with UFC, and he shouldn't--that's corruption.

Anyone who can't understand this is an idiot child.

Herb Deans officiates in the interests of the UFC. Nowhere was this more evident than in the Mcgregor vs Nurmagomedov fight.None of the fouls shown below were called by Dean. You'd have to be a special kind of rube to believe he let this much **** pass by accident. Literally gave Mcgregor every possible opportunity to escape every threatening situation via every illegal method in the book. Everyone has a bad day, but nobody has one that ******* bad. There's two possibilities; either Dean is directly on the Take, or he has an understanding with the UFC that if he lets things go the promotion's way, he keeps getting booked to adjudicate flagship events. Both possibilities are definitive corruption. One being bribery, the other collusion. Neither is better nor worse than the other.

 
This is how the world works.Open up baby birds, here comes papa fishrat with a nightcrawler; companies do what they need to do to protect their earning potential. And they break Laws to do it routinely, either because it's a good bet they'll get away with it, or because the penalty is a fraction of the earning power of the act. If you stand to make 75 million dollars by breaking a Law, and the maximum statute for breaking said law is 1.2 Million, it is not a sensible business decision not to break it. Capiche? If Herb Dean was exposed as corrupt tomorrow, and proven so in court, it would still have been worth the exercise--both to Dean personally, and WME. It's about risk mitigation.

The goal of corporations is to make money. That's it. There is no other reason for them to exist. They are lines of code executing a specific function.They are entities with a purpose as singular as condoms.  If you think any company is going to willfully make 1/100th of what they they would in the interests of fairness (especially when they're leveraged out the Wazoo on a new Acquisition) or won't fight dirty to ensure that doesn't happen then you're beyond redemption. This isn't a real sport. It's sports entertainment. It's not the Olympics. It's not even the NFL. Just because you can bet on it doesn't mean ****. You can also bet on pro wrestling.
