How are so many so confident in Cooper ? I could easily see what Brunson did to DDP in round 1 doing that for 3 rounds to cooper. bigger, stronger, better wrestling, Great ground control

I’m not sold on Impa or Josh, so I’ll take the dog I guess. I like Brunson. Sy should be a close fight, but I don’t think he wins. 

This will be a rematch to decide the 2023 PFL Featherweight Champion. Coming into this fight Braga will be riding a four-fight win streak under the PFL and an undefeated record overall. He also comes in with confidence that he’s already beaten Pinedo earlier this year. However, since their last fight Pinedo has stormed onto the scene in PFL with two vicious KOs over the two previous Featherweight Tournament finalists, Bubba Jenkins and 2022 PFL Featherweight Champion Brendan Loughnane. Will this be a repeat of history with Braga controlling the chaos to secure a 2-0 lead in this budding rivalry or will the surging confidence and vicious finishing ability of Pinedo prove to be too much this time around as he rides the waves of his momentum?

 

Stand Up Phase:

Braga (OX) has a conservative kickboxing style which uses kicks to keep space and attack the legs before finding opportunities to land combinations and counters. Pinedo (SP) has a more aggressive, brawler boxing style where he presses forward landing combinations and finds opportunities to land high knees with his, usual, height advantage. Braga is the more defensively responsible of the two using his high guard and constant movement to avoid most attacks. He uses his heavy pressure to stifle his OPPs offense and slowly breaks them down by attacking the legs of his OPPs, causing them to be stationary, and landing quick, straight punches. Pinedo uses lots of volume to pressure his OPPs back and overwhelms them with powerful hooks to the head and body. If’ he’s successful with his pressure he will look for opportunities to land heavy knees to stun the OPP and set up a finish. Prediction: If Pinedo uses more pressure compared to their last fight he’ll be able to keep Braga defensive long enough to hurt him and possibly find the finish. However, if Braga can absorb the pressure of Pinedo, his cleaner striking will control the fight and cause Pinedo to become more reckless and vulnerable to counters.

 

Clinch Phase:

Braga has good TD defense and the ability to find his feet after being taken down when he is against the cage. However, in open space his TD defense is lacking and can be caught with doubles and singles. He hasn’t shown much offense in the clinch and primarily controls against the cage before finding separation. Pinedo has good TD defense against the cage and his competent defending TDs and sprawling in open space. He uses the Thai clinch well to land heavy knees and control his OPPs movement. He’s also shown the ability to shoot for doubles when the chance arises. Prediction: Braga will need to control Pinedo against the cage to mute his offense if he’s too successful in the stand up but needs to be wary of the Thai clinch. Pinedo will use the Thai clinch more if he’s not able to keep Braga from being evasive and if he can’t any significant strikes in open space.

 

Ground Phase:

Braga has shown great submission defense when on the ground and is able to create space effectively to return the fight to the feet. He creates good frames and does well to control the head of the OPP to prevent them from passing his guard. However, not much has been shown for his offensive ability on the ground. Pinedo has decent defense on the ground in preventing his OPP from securing top position and returning to his feet. However, if he is controlled on the ground, he’s not shown good activity for creating frames or progressing positions, even when he has the OPP in his guard. Not much has been shown for his offensive ability besides being able to land decent GnP when he has top control. His control from top position is also lacking. Prediction: I expect not much of this contest to take place on the ground since neither has shown good top control. Unless it’s during a finishing sequence, I don’t expect much time to be spent here.

 

 

Prediction: Pinedo wins by Second Round TKO

Even though this will be their second fight this year and Braga won the first fight back in April, I believe Pinedo has made the larger jumps in improvement since then. I predict if Pinedo can use constant but controlled pressure with a sustained body attack he’ll be able to wear down Braga enough before finding the finish.

I saw the Pinedo and Braga fight on YouTube, but at what point did Braga win the fight? It is an abuse on the part of the judges, Pinedo with 2 clean blows opened Braga's face, now he just has to refine his aim and hit him since Braga does not move his head and has no knockout power, Pinedo will go out like a lion to hunt his prey
