Cory Sandhagen, DEC
Two absolute technicians on the feet. I don't need to say much here, because this is just a great fight all around. Font is a savage, and rebounded in a big way against Adrian Yanez, but Cory Sandhagen is just next level. He's the real deal, and the guy I see challenging for the title next. He does everything better, and after rough outings for Font against guys like Aldo and Vera, I think he'll just be too much for the battle worn Font. Cory by late stoppage or decision.
Andrade vs. Suarez
Tatiana Suarez, SUB, R2
Andrade is still relatively young considering her time in the sport, but she seems to be bottoming out. Her last few performances haven't been pretty, and her style has become more and more about wildly brawling and less about anything else. I don't see her being able to bully a big wrestler like Suarez like she has many women before, and Suarez will have a a massive advantage on the feet. Suarez by sub in her continued resurgence to the title picture.
Jacoby vs. Nzechukwu
Kennedy Nzechukwu, TKO, R3
Much like the Boser/Camur fight, I think Jacoby is the more proven and smarter fighter in this match up, but at LHW, that isn't always enough. Kennedy is a freak of nature on the feet, and is one of the more methodical finishers at 205. This will probably be a competitive striking battle that comes down to the final round, and I see Kennedy finding a TKO against a tired Jacoby.
Tucker vs. Lopes
Diego Lopes, SUB, R1
Tucker is an incredibly skilled and talented guy, but his lack of activity is worrying. He's also 37 years old, coming off a big layoff and a KO loss. Lopes lacks the strength of schedule to really have a ton of confidence in picking him, but his losing effort against Movsar Evloev is a promising UFC start all things considered. Not super confident either way, but Lopes finding a submission just seems like a likely outcome.
Boser vs. Camur
Aleksa Camur, TKO, R1
The smart pick here is Boser. Despite his losses, he's a much more proven UFC level fighter. I'm just worried that won't be enough. He's coming off a finish loss since dropping down to 205, and Camur is the younger, presmably more improved fighter after being out for so long. Boser has shown grit, but also seems to have plataued in his career. I'm gonna bank on Camur improving and getting his first UFC finish.
Bahamondes vs. Klein
Ignacio Bahamondes, SUB, R3
Bahamondes has impressed me during his UFC career. He's a consistent finisher, having put people out with strikes as well as tapping opponents later in fights. Klein is a very good striker, with underrated wrestling, who has also demonstrated solid finishing ability. Taking Bahamondes. He has a lot more upside and will have more opportunities to find a finish, unless Klein can manage to negate his stand up with stall tactics on the cage.
Barcelos vs. Phillips
Kyler Phillips, DEC
One of the best stylistic match ups on this card. Both men will bring excellent scrambling, grappling and especially striking abilities to the cage. I'm liking Phillips here, which pains me to say, as I've really enjoyed Barcelos' run in the UFC. He's the younger guy and he's just as talented. I think he'll take a decision in an active, competitive stand up battle.
Wells vs. Harris
Jeremiah Wells, TKO
Very interesting match making with this one. Both of these gentleman have shown themselves to be dangerous finishers with awkward fighting styles. They're very similar in that they're both grapplers with fight ending power on the feet. Harris will have a pretty significant advantage in the height/reach department, but Wells is a tank at 170. With all of those similarities in mind, I'm taking Wells. While both men are sloppy, I think Harris' defensive lapses will cost him more. Wells hits harder, probably has the better chin and is arguably just as good on the ground as Harris. Wells by knockout or even a submission.
Quarantillo vs. Jackson
Billy Quarantillo, TKO, R3
Two hard nosed grapplers who are not afraid to trade on the feet. Damon Jackson enters with a grappling advantage and more consistency as a UFC fighter. On the other side, Quarantillo has incredible cardio, scrambling and I think will have the advantage on the feet. It's a toss up, and I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but I foresee Billy rallying in the third for a TKO win after a two round dog-fight.
Hadley vs. Durden
Jake Hadley, SUB, R2
This is a close match up. Durden will easily have the strength and wrestling advantage, but I worry about his chances against a guy as dynamic as Hadley. I was originally gonna go Durden by decision, but I'm confident in Hadley's ability to find a submission against a guy who has been submitted in three of his four losses.
Woodson vs. Buzukja
Sean Woodson, DEC
Woodson looked pretty terrible in his last fight, and only really managed to salvage a draw from it due to his opponent having god awful fight IQ. He's taking on a pretty solid guy in Buzukja, as well. With all of that said, I'm still leaning towards a Woodson win. Dennis steps in on very short notice, and struggled to make weight (although he did only miss by 0.5 of a lb). Woodson's length and boxing should be enough for him to take a win.
Osbourne vs. Almabaev
Asu Almabaev, DEC
Osbourne is the more battle-tested UFC fighter, but he's also shown he's prone to inconsistency. I'm going to hesitantly pick Almabaev to just out work Osbourne to a decision win, akin to what we saw from Azat Maksum against Tyson Nam a few weeks ago.
