Im a Glover fan for years since before he was in UFC but Hill could take it, if it stays standing

Hill as trouble defending takedown and Texeira is the best TD artist in the LHW division. Hill can KO Glover the way Rumble did but I dout it happen.

Is there more to the story at LHW?

Predictions: 7 of 15 Winners, 2 Perfect, 450 Points   |   Tied for 4409th

This whole fiasco stems from Jiri vacating his belt, which to me never made any sense. Why did Jiri choose to vacate his title but Ngannou didn't? They could have easily done another interim title fight like they do in any other scenario.

Then all of a sudden I recalled Jiri being upset he was being constantly bothered by USADA. Supposedly he was getting tested like 1-2 times per week. That's quite excessive. Why?

I'd never be able to prove any kind of conspiracy of course, but Dana White immediately provided a Trump-esque description of Jiri's injury the moment the news broke.

"He absolutely shredded his shoulder. Its really bad, the worst the Doctors have ever seen!"

Jiri is a true martial artist and I guess I can't get discount the fact that honor and standing means a lot to him. He genuinely strikes me as the kind of character who would give up his belt to "not hold up the division".

However, if Jiri was juicing and stopped because he was getting tested so much, that could explain the severity of his injury. If you continue to do the same kind of intense training without the "secret stuff" that was contributing to your ability to train at that level, you absolutely increase your chance of injury.

To illustrate my point, lets play devils advocate and assume Jiri was juicing. Before steroids, lets say Jiri couldn't lift a 100lb weight. After juicing, he lifts it no problem. Suddenly he is required to stop cold turkey. At this point, he's built up the mass. He can lift the weight. But those steroids are like putting gas into a car. The car will move (the weight is lifted) as long as theirs some gas in the tank. Eventually, because Jiri was getting tested so consistently, he had to hit empty. But he continued to take trips (lift weights/train) like there was still gas in the tank. A car obviously halts mid trip if its completely empty, and that's exactly what Jiri's shoulder may have done as he continued to train.

I'm a big believer in identifying false patterns. Jiri is a big strong athlete who could have just blown out his shoulder training.I could very easily be looking to deep into a narrative that's not there. But Jiri vacating immediately post injury while Ngannou gets to sit on the shelf for a year+ holding his belt doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Would be interested to hear some other thoughts on this from the Tap community.

I didn't think much of Hill going into/after the Craig fight. I sort of mentally had him in the Alonzo Menefield category. But ever since then he's looked like an absolute killer. Not just with power, either. His fight IQ and situational awareness is really improving. His social media makes it seem like he puts in a lot of grappling work, and he did well when Thiago tried to grapple. He got taken down a bunch, but usually got right back up without taking damage or giving up submission attempts.

If he gets into a scramble with Glover, it'll probably go poorly. But maybe he can defend well enough to keep it standing.

Imo hill defended the first 6 or so takedowns from santos pretty well. It was just the repeated takedowns that ****** him up

I think the 6 takedown number is misleading. Hill negated what Santos was trying to do against the cage and on the ground. Stats be damned.

I don’t care about the context, Getting takedown 6 times by Thiago Santos is a bad sign agaist Glover, Just totally diffrent level of wresling between Glover and Santos as Glover just dominated Santos on the ground when they fought  ,Also Glover is a very legimate black belt

Glover could definitely be different in this fight than when he fought Jiri, but in that fight he took a TON of damage and never got dropped once, if he still has that chin I think he scrambles and ragdolls Hill, whereas if Hill gets into trouble I have a harder time thinking of how he will get out of it.

Call me crazy but I think the fact that Jiri is tested so much is probably better evidence that he's NOT juiced. USADA exists to give the sport the appearance of clean competition, not to actually ensure that the competition is clean. Anytime they're on to someone juicing (McGregor, JBJ, Lesnar, etc.) USADA tends to test the fighter less. I think they probably test Jiri frequently because they aren't afraid of what they will find. If McGregor ever fights again I guarantee you that they will either fudge his results or Dana will strangle anyone who tries to collect his piss.
