the guy as one job, lose as quick as possible so the 2 weak fans favorite could make it to the playoff.
I liked PFL more when it was about competition. Now its like they try to attract casual wat ever it take.

I still like pfl but I really don’t like how they basically set up the same four people to win every year with favorable matchups, look at pfl 5, there’s maybe 2 even fights, the rest are gross mismatches

@AyyLmaonnaise I agree, im a big fan of bringing in new blood and giving new fighters a chance.... Always bringing the former league champs back kind of frustrates me, like these guys already banked well over a million.... Well done and all, to win again or do well in the league more than once is impressive, however I would prefer to see new fighters brought in and champs let go or given non tournament bouts. As I said, they already earned over a million as league champions, so thats easily enough to retire on or live well over time as long you are sensible with it, dont squander it....

I actually love that the champ and some top contenders return to defend.  I think it sets up a better system than a more random championship belt system.  All roads to the championship run through the champ, so whomever wins, beat the man to be the man.

Anyway, don't forget that they recently announced that they are adding a PPV "superfight" aspect to the PFL, so we'll see how that goes.  You may get your wish.

Well yeah but considering their whole schtik is the tournament style, it seems pretty stupid to give the champs a free path back to the finals (most of the time). It feels tacky imo. I get that they’re doing it to build up the champs more but it kind of defeats the purpose of a tournament and basically makes it so the champ fights a new challenger every season

I get it’s mma and that’s how the rest of the sport is but if you’re doing an 8 man tournament you could at least make balanced matchups. And then the bums they bring in just act as fodder to build the stars up again

We knew this was all just prelude to a 4-man tournament anyway.  At least there's an opportunity for someone to breakthrough in the regular season part.  Hendricks comes to mind.  That was a solid upset of sorts.

Well ya the 4 fighters are usually gonna make it to the finals everytime but still, it just seems tacky to let the best guys walk their way to the finals and have the other guys tough it out. It should be the same for everyone, not to give advantages to the big names. That’s ********

I hear ya, though this is similar to how tennis is set up as well.  In their mind, PFL likely has these guys "seeded" and will set up the matchups to steer their top 4 seeds to the playoffs.

I think I agree with you that just starting with a 16 or 8-man tourney and bypassing the regular season randomizer might be better.

Damn Ray Cooper really botched up the program, but do you get the same sense as me... that they seem to favour Rory McDonald as the WW poster-child more?

Ya, they will always favor the former ufc guy over the homegrown talent. Rory is really good tho so it’s deserved. They actually did give him the hard path last season and he still made the finals (despite that ******** tibau robbery)

I wonder if it'll ever come out, what went wrong with Cooper's last weight cut.  Injury, illness, lack of drive?

Pretty sure they use the same judges as everyone else.  Judges are just universally bad

I love when people blame the organization for judges and not the athletic commission of whatever state or country the fights are in.

Pretty on par in 2022, have a bold stance on something you have no idea what the **** you're talking about lmao blows my mind how people can so confidently say **** that makes no sense.

PFL doesn't have their own judges on payroll. Neither does the UFC or and other sanctioned fight organization in this country. Its a state athletic commission and judges can apply in whatever state they want. Most of the known name judges are licensed in the common combat sport states. Nevada, Florida, California... .you may get some random judges on an Idaho or Montana card maybe?

I already knew this, maybe PFL should do something about the athletic commission then..? Ever thought of that?!?!?! You can't tell me that the PFL, UFC or any organization for that matter is powerless over who is appointed by the athletic commission.
should we just sit back and do nothing??? It's not like you're the one getting in the ring fighting, it's not your life it's affecting, so who cares, right? Clay got ****** over $1 million dollars over a bogus decision. Who cares tho, right?!
An action should be done about the awful judging. PFL should look into the athletic commission and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
You people are all mouth and no action. You're what's wrong with the world. Now go **** yourself, smartass.

No.  the orgs cannot do anything about the commission because they are not in charge of the commissions.  The only thing different they can do is fight in a different state just so they can get different terrible judges.  There's nothing the PFL, UFC, or anyone can do about it
