If you're gonna throw Shamrock in to get murdered might as well have him fight Tito again for the lol interviews and pressers

This will probably be really good ratings. The should stack the rest of the card with the most promising prospects and most talended contenders. Guys like Julio Cesar Neves and Caldwelll.

Obviously the desire to be taken seriously is not a concern of Bellator's right now.

Say what you will about Bjorn Rebney, but this kind of pathetic EliteXC style of matchmaking never would have flown when he was in charge.

I honestly hate what's happening to Bellator. Events like tomorrow nights; **** yes. Yes please. I will watch the ******* **** out of those with a smile on my face throughout. But **** like this? Really. Coker isn't turning Bellator into another Strikeforce. He's turning it into Elite XC.

I mean I get the fact that Kimbo and Shamrock never fought in Elite XC, but Shamrock is ******* 51 years old and hasn't fought since 2010. There is no way (barring the use of TRT and a ****load of other PEDs) that Shamrock will even get past the first round.  Why not have Kimbo Slice fight Tito Ortiz or have Shamrock fight Tito?

@An Alias, whata about Shlemencko vs Tito? imo that **** was worse because Shlemencko was their best champion, and they throw him under the bus against a much bigger guy from heavier division.

@legacyofmisfortune - That fight was after Viacom took over and was the last card before Rebney got the boot.  I'm willing to bet he fought against it.  It's probably a part of why he's not there anymore.

@AnAlias,  it could be but Bjorn seemed awfully happy with Rampage and Tito in Bellator, I think is more probable that he got kicked out because all the crazy **** he put on Rampage contract.

Edit.

Having said that, this fight is WWE material, and I'm willing to bet that we will see some crazy **** from this guys before the fight.

@legacyofmisfortune- You could be right.  I just remember Rebney in interviews talking about the tournament structure and how the integrity of the matchmaking meant everything to him. Perhaps he changed a bit as time went on.

@AnAlias I really like Bjorn, and the old Bellator. However, It's all about the ratings, and the last Tito card just reinforced this kind of matchmaking for the big cards. It's kind of sad, but It's the reality. This names from the past bring the big numbers. What I hope is that three or fours fights remaining on the card features the young up and coming talent that can become stars in the future.

I could  understand this kind of moves if they take the opportunity to match rising prospects so more people get to know them, but even so, Shamrock is 51 I don't know how much can they benefit from this. It would have been a bit better if they matched Kimbo against Kongo
