I went back all the way to the 20th page and didn't see anyone who started a thread about movies. If there is one, just let this thread sink away into the abyss of thread history, but if not, this is something we can talk about. We've got one for every sport, music, and TV shows. So I figured might as well.

They said they had rights but did not realize those rights would be taken away under the very system they supported. I just think they wanted to feel good about themselves but if it had reached a certain point, they would fold.

John Denver was such an example.  He was all environmentalist until it affected his wallet.

They used to say the Rosenbergs were not guilty but there also a few short years ago, Morton Sobell said that Julius was a spy so they were ju****lly executed for treason.  I wonder if some of the people who were blacklisted were also guilty in more ways that HW would like to acknowledge.

The movie actually mentions the Rosenbergs. But American communist were responsible for the Rosenbergs as much as your average Muslim is for Isis meaning not at all. It would be like blaming all prolife Christians for the guy who shot up planned parenthood. Whether or not they would have stood by their beliefs is irrelevant what is relevant is they had the right to believe them and not be discriminated against for it. But Trumbo and his friends were arrested for not committing a crime. They were arrested for being a member of what was a legitimate political party. It would be like arresting people just because they were a member of the tea party or green party.

Finally saw Spectre, was anyone else disappointed with how little screen-time Waltz received? He was great when he was there, especially during the introduction for his character.

Also the ending was well done I thought, considering that was the last time Daniel Craig would play Bond... now he can go back to wearing tuxedos in other movies.

Is it official that he is done playing bond?

There is a lot of speculation about it. The studio and producers; mainly Barbara Broccoli, have stated they want him to do one more Bond. However, Daniel Craig has hinted in the past year that this will be his last time as Bond. So I tend to believe him over anyone else.

I would personally enjoy one more movie with Craig. He is my favourite Bond; I like the grittier side of the character that Craig does well.

I was hoping to see the Krampus but now that I found out it is PG-13, I lost most of that interest.

I'm going to see Krampus tonight though I wish it was rated R. However I have heard decent things so far, so there is some hope.

Saw Victor Frankenstein a couple days ago which was surprisingly fun. I expected the worst but it was entertaining even if the story is a little trite. It will probably be out of the theaters soon since it bombed bad.

Watched Secret in their Eyes today which is a remake of an Argentina film. The Argentina film is supposed to be fantastic but this American remake was awful.  It was sooo slow and soooo boring. It banks the entire film on a shocking twist ending but everything up to that point was such a drudgery.

Alright got back from Krampus and it is really Good. It's a horror comedy most similar to that of Gremlins. It is fun and sometimes even creepy and uses mostly pratical effects for the demon toys Krampus and his elves. The gingerbread men are the only digital characters and even they look solid. It being PG-13 didn't hurt it at all especially considering the folk lore of Krampus is that he steals naughty children and drags them to the underworld.

Finally saw "Creed" and as many of you have stated already it is exceptional.  Definitely the best in the series since the original in 1976. I really think Stallone's performance deserves a nomination for best supporting actor, Michael B. Jordan is pretty good in his own right.

Who is even the villain in Creed? Apollo was a good villain of sorts in part 1 and  especially two.

Much like the original Rocky, Creed is much more of a human story and more about the personal struggles of life in general. But his final big opponent is 'Pretty' Ricky Conlan played by Tony Bellew who was an actual pro boxer. The character is the LHW undefeated lineal world champ and P4P#1. British thug type looking at a  jail sentence for a Weapons possession charge. Creed gets a shot based on name recognition but he is only 16-0 with most of his wins in TJ boxing clubs.

Watched Creed today. It's certainly as good as everyone says it is. Stallone definitely deserves an Oscar nomination for this movie.

Saw "In the Heart of the Sea" over the weekend.  Based on a true story about the Essex whaling ship that was attacked by a sperm whale leaving the crew stranded at sea. The film has good visuals a couple of good action sequences but the characters are underdeveloped making it hard to give a **** about them or their plight.

Its hard to watch movies based on true stories. They often change them for political purposes in order to gain/destroy more symphathy.

I don't know if there is much of a political agenda in "In the Heart of the Sea" it's a shipwreck survival movie for the most part.

Not to say they didn't change anything because they most certainly did. They added more whale and added Melville who is being told the story.

There may not be, not seen it yet.  I just do not like revisionist history.

Searching for Bobby Fischer and The Hurricane were such movies which used politics to change the reality of how it really was.
