I went back all the way to the 20th page and didn't see anyone who started a thread about movies. If there is one, just let this thread sink away into the abyss of thread history, but if not, this is something we can talk about. We've got one for every sport, music, and TV shows. So I figured might as well.

Griffy, did you see the document on the Thing? It is about 90 minutes long and covers practically everything on the film.

I watched George Romero's, Martin (1977). Pretty terrific and unique, I must say.

I'm scouring for quality horror type flicks I actually have yet to see.

@Nomade have you ever watched Ferrara's The Addiction? not sure you can call it "horror", but it's Abel Ferrara's take on vampires, so you know it's something unique.

No I haven't seen the addiction, I actually haven't seen Dracula with Gary Oldman either. I see that The Christopher Walken is in it though.

@rappinpapsoda, ya I watched it a couple of years ago. I recommend it for any fan of The Thing. It's on YouTube if anyone wants to watch it.

I always considered films like The Thing and Alien more sci-fi than horror.

Today's horror movies are total crap. Even the cheesy ones of the 80 with the many different types of situational killers are better than the ones of today.

@Nomad, I consider sci-fi/horror films to be their own subgenre. There are enough of them that I believe it is warranted.

Horror is a broad category that has many subgenres as does Sci-Fi and I believe movies like "The Thing" and "Alien" most certainly fit into both so they are Sci-Fi/Horror and categorization in either is just as valid. Other Sci-Fi movies like "E.T." and "Flight of the Navigator" are Sci-Fi/Family Adventure another subgenre of sci-fi that share elements from both. Then there others like "Gravity" that are Sci-Fi/Drama. Take four different alien coming to earth type movies "The Thing," "E.T.," "Independence Day," and "Mars Attacks." On one hand they all have strong Sci-Fi elements and aliens, on the other One is more Horror, one is more action, one a family adventure,  and the other a comedy.

I consider horror and sci fi to be different genres.  That is how movie selling places usually do that.  Sci fi is usually to thrill or amaze while horror is to scare.  There are exceptions though as some cross into each other like Scanners, Re-Animator and Frankenstein.  Movies like Halloween have no science in them at all unless you want to go to Psychiatry.

I don't think horror is just meant to scare. It can also be shocking or disgusting not necessarily always just scary. There are gothic horrors that have a level of romanticism along with gouls, ghosts, murder or some other supernatural element. If you were to make a venn diagram of sci-fi and horror on one side in the sci-fi bubble would be "The Martian" "Gravity" and "Star Trek" on the other in the horror bubble "Halloween,"  "Friday the 13th," and "The Exorcist." In the middle where the two genres cross would be "Alien" and "The Thing" among many others.

Went and saw "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" out of curiosity.

I immediately regret that decision. Which sucks cause it would be a great concept if they did a "Zombieland" approach. But no, it is like if some 14 year old kid saw "Zombieland" and then decided to write a boy scout zombie fan fiction about what he dreams about. I mean, it is funny if you are still in middle school and watch vine videos cause they are "The best form of comedy". But whatever, Don't watch it.

Zombieland was kind of gay, I love Woody Harrelson though.

Zombieland was a solid 'watch it once, twice tops' type of movie, in my opinion. Murray's cameo was great, but obviously loses its effect during rewatches.

It was good when I was 15, but now as a 37 year-old man I find if pretty gay, Griffy.

The best part of Zombieland starring the Facebook guy was when he accidentally killed Bill Murray.  My wife was really sad as she loves Bill Murray.

PS:  I think you missed the point of The Nomad's comment.
