Predictions: 5 of 9 Winners, 2 Perfect, 300 Points   |   Tied for 296th

Continuing off the heels of XFC 24, World Series of Fighting puts on it's third show tonight from Las Vegas.

A main event rematch between perennial UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch and big show vet Josh Burkman tops the card. Fitch finished -- yes, finished -- Burkman via Choke in his second-ever UFC fight back in 2006 back when Burkman was a bigger name than Fitch. My how times have changed. Fitch enters the rematch as a heavy favorite.

In other action, Tyson Steele meets Steve Carl in the welterweight co-main event, Strikeforce vet Lyle Beerbohm meets UFC vet Jacob Volkmann at 155 and undefeated prospect Justin Gaethje takes on Brian Cobb at 155.

the prelims feature talented vets and up-and-comers, including Dan Lauzon, Carson Beebe, John Gunderson, Jeff Smith and Jerrod Sanders.

The main card kicks off at 11pm ET on NBC Sports Network, while prelims will be streamed live all over the MMA net beginning at 830pm.

That's because all Maia did was hump his back for 15 minutes. Literally that's all he did.

"who else is he gonna fight next? " Uhhhhh how about Steve Carl? You know, the other welterweight who pulled off an uncanny first round submission. Based on the events of tonight it would be a sin to put Jon Fitch ahead of Steve Carl in the WSOF title picture.

Fitch was rocked by those hooks by Burkman...to be fair Maia isn't sure what a hook is!

@Krazy Gerald Harris might beat Jon Fitch at this point in his career. I know that sounds crazy, but so did Burkman beating him. Fitch is simply not the same fighter he once was, he's 35, and his chin appears to be leaving him.

They should do Burkman vs. Carl for the Inaugural title, then sign some other 170 talent for Fitch to get a shot.

Not sure why a lot of people are bringing Maia into this.  Burkman subbed him because he rocked him 2-3 times then followed up with several solid punches, Maia never rocked him.  However it's still very impressive but I wouldn't expect the same if they were to fight again

Maia got brought up because he had a dominant position for the better part of 3 rounds and did nothing with it. Absolutely nothing. And he's a world class jui jitsu practitioner.

I agree with Dana 100%. Mazagatti is terrible and he's going to get someone seriously hurt. He needs to be fired before that happens.

@zarog: No. I disagree. I don't think he's top 5 anymore, but it can happen to anyone. He was actually moving decently and looked to be in great shape for this fight. Looked bigger than he has in a long time. I think he'll regroup and put another streak together, but for sure he's not going to recapture his No. 2 form.

I just wonder if Fitch trained hard or played skyrim? Or maybe Burkman just got lucky and if they fought again Fitch would win.

Josh didnty get lucky, he caught Fitch with a 3 piece, rocked him, and landed a few GnP shots, then locked in a tight guilly when Fitch gave up his neck during a desperation takedown. Fitch got caught, made a mistake by giving up his neck, and Burkman capitalized on it.

Just because an underdog would lose more often than not doesn't mean he got lucky with the win ... I'm a huge GSP fan, but if you make a mistake and your opponent capitalizes, that's the name of the game ala Serra/GSP I. Do better next time.

I was always of the opinion that Fitch is a really good fighter and a durable one too. But, he got absolutely steam rolled there. The thought of him hanging it up definitely ran through my mind after that, but... He's still got so much drawing power because of his legacy now so if he wants another fight he gets it obviously... I like to think it's just some bad luck and he will bounce back, but who knows.. another fight against Burkman would be settle it, but will they give it to him right away?
