Edwards vs. Elonen-Kulmala Wiki Update Wiki

Edwards and Jamba met in a featured bantamweight bout on the preliminary card.

Edwards opened with a kick and Jamba used the opportunity to clinch and get a quick takedown. Edwards kept Jamba from doing damage in his guard using perfect wrist control and throwing up occasional submission attempts. The referee stood the fighters up midway through the round and both fighters landed some good punches. Edwards pushed Jamba into the fence then picked him up and slammed him, only to be swept by a Kimura attempt from Jamba, who retook the top position. Edwards attacked with a Triangle and locked it in in the final minute of the round, but Jamba managed to survive to the bell.

Edwards pressed forward for a takedown against the fence but Jamba got him back to the mat with a hip toss. Jamba landed a few hard elbows from inside Edwards's closed guard. Edwards hit a sweep midway through the round and move to half guard then isolated one of Jamba's arms, looking for a Keylock. Jamba spun out of the hold but gave up his back, allowing Edwards to get his hooks in before switching to the body triangle. Edwards tried to soften Jamba up in an attempt to open up a Rear Naked Choke attempt, but Jamba defended again to the bell.

Edwards landed a solid right hand on Jamba's chin, but Jamba countered with some punches of his own. Jamba caught Edwards in a Thai Clinch and landed some knees before getting taken down. Jamba used another Kimura attempt to sweep Edwards and nearly drew the tap with a nasty angle on the Kimura from the top, but Edwards spun out of it, giving up his back. Jamba fell off the top of Edwards's back and the English fighter took the top position in Jamba's half guard, firing off some short elbows from the top. Edwards passed to full mount then took Jamba's back as he rolled to his knees, again searching for the choke after locking in the body triangle.

The judges scored the bout for Edwards across the board. Scores were not announced.
