Cheng vs. Hucin Wiki Update Wiki

Cheng and Hussin took to the cage for the first Middleweight Tournament Semi-Final.

Cheng circled early in the first and dodged a couple of blistering lead-leg head kicks from Hussin. Cheng landed some leg kicks to the lead leg and kept his movement up, with neither fighter committing on their exchanges. Hussin fired back with some leg kicks of his own, but neither fighter went upstairs in the first half of the round. Cheng shot in for a takedown but Hussin defended with a headlock and spun out. Cheng finally dragged Hussin to the mat in the final minute, landing some punches to the forehead, but Hussin struggled back to his feet. Cheng tried to drag Hussin back to the mat but the Frenchman grabbed the fence for the second time and was docked a point for the infraction, likely putting him in a deep hole after the first.

Hussin darted forward and landed a lead hook but Cheng tripped him to the mat and landed in side control. Hussin scrambled back to his feet again and pressed forward with some kicks, landing a flying knee to the chest. Cheng wrapped Hussin up and secured another takedown against the cage, working from half guard. The referee stood the fighters up at the two-minute mark and Hussin landed a huge knee from the clinch before Cheng drove him to the mat once again. The referee again stood the fighters in the final minute and Cheng circled away from danger before the horn. Cheng looked exhausted in his corner between rounds.

Hussin moved forward and attempted to bait Cheng into a striking exchange by posturing and dropping his hands, but the Swede would not take the bait, instead shooting in and getting another takedown. Hussin scrambled up and landed a big right hand against the fence, pressing forward in search of the finish then pulling a Guillotine but only succeeding in giving Cheng the top position. Cheng kept control on top for some time, but Neil Hall again stood the fighters up as the final minute approached. Cheng circled away then rocked Hussin with a left hook before pushing him into the fence. Hussin got a takedown of his own right before the horn.

The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, and 30-26 for Cheng, giving him the Unanimous Decision victory and a pass to the Middleweight Tournament Finals.
