Most Underrated Fighters Of All Time
-
1
- José Aldo
- "Junior"
- 31-8-0

The fact that Jose Aldo is not universally considered one of the 5 Greatest Fighters of all time ... In my opinion, that alone--makes Jose Aldo the most underrated fighter ever. The fact that ‘MMA On Point’, a very popular YouTube Channel that covers MMA … they made a list of the 10 Greatest Fighters -- and Aldo was not on it...
The fact that Joe Rogan, or anyone else, can say that Max Holloway is the "Best Featherweight of all time" ...
For those things to even be possible ... means that Jose Aldo the most underrated fighter ever.
Aldo did the exact same thing, that All Time Greats like: Fedor, Silva, and DJ did ...
But Aldo did it against even better competition.
And Aldo is STILL #5 in the toughest division.
And Aldo has still never lost to someone that was not the best fighter in the division.
Jose Aldo has been in the Top 5 -- for 13 consecutive years.
Jose Aldo was never ranked below #2 -- for 10 years.
Jose Aldo was one of the Top 4 p4p fighters ... for roughly 6 years (He was even ranked #1 when Jones was suspended).
It is almost impossible, through any metric, to say that Jose Aldo is not one of the 4 or 5 Greatest Fighters Of All Time.

- Alexander Gustafsson
- "The Mauler"
- 18-8-0

Alexander Gustafsson is one of the most talented fighters to ever compete in MMA. He is also one of the greatest Strikers of All Time. Yet, I have never heard anyone bring him up in any conversation when it comes to the best LHWs, the best strikers, or in any other topic.
Gustafsson was within inches of beating Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier--Two of the very best p4p fighters ever, and easily--the two best LHWs ever. The fact that Gus was that close to beating those two, means that he COULD have beaten them--That means he was almost certainly, on the same level as Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. If he wasnt ... He would not have done so well.
If Gus had not fought in the same division as Jones and DC, he probably would have been considered the best LHW of all time.
Also, I think it is important to note that: Had Gus won those two fights, that would have been the greatest two wins that anyone has ever had. To me, those two losses are more important than most of the wins that others have.

- Dustin Poirier
- "The Diamond"
- 30-8-0, 1 NC

Poirier has one of the best collection of wins in the history of MMA, but because he was not a Champion, he is not considered one of Greatest of all time. That makes no sense to me. You could win 30 title fights ... if they are not against good fighters, that does not mean anything. Poirier has a collection of wins that is better than almost any other fighter. To me, that makes him one of the greatest fighters of all time.
