For 2 reasons.
1. To build prospects they are high on (Carpenter, AJ, Blanchfield, Myra, Nasim etc)
2. To get rid of dead weight and cut bad or old fighters by making them fight each other (OSP/Lins, Miller/Hernandez, Wright/Pauga)
It makes sense and there will be a push for the prospects going forward to the better cards this year and a culling of the dead weight off the roster.
