Tommy Cote (2-2) v. Brett Portieous (2-2) (Featherweights)
Round 1- Portieous landed a takedown in the opening minute of the fight and improved into north-south position. The referee inexplicably stood the fighters up but Portieous scored another takedown. Portieous landed some punches from inside the guard of Cote and improved to side-control and then into full-mount. Cote gave up his back and Portieous looked to sink in a rear-naked choke. Portieous was unable to lock in the choke and the round came to a close. We scored Round 1 for Brett Portieous: 10-9
Round 2- Portieous landed another takedown in the first 20 seconds of the round and fought to advance his position to side-control. Cote fought to escape his less than advantageous position but was unable to get Portieous off of him. The referee again inexplicably stood up the two fighters with Portieous in side-control. Portieous immediately landed another takedown and attempted a guillotine choke when Cote attempted to get to his feet. Cote escaped the guillotine attempt and landed some punches from inside Portieous’ guard. Cote lifted Portieous in a slam attempt but Portieous avoided danger and planted his feet. We score Round 2 for Brett Portieous: 10-9
Round 3- Brett Portieous scored another takedown and again attempted a guillotine in the first minute of the round. Cote popped his head out of the guillotine attempt and looked to work some ground and pound from inside the guard of Portieous. Cote landed some heavy punches from inside the guard of Portieous and controlled the majority of the round with some solid ground and pound. We score Round 3 for Tommy Cote: 10-9
Brett Portieous def. Tommy Cote via split-decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)
