The first televised bout of Strikeforce Challengers 12 saw Caros Fodor (1-0 in Strikeforce) take on Derek Getzel (new to the organization).
The two fighters came out quickly throwing strikes with Getzel then clinching up and pushing Fodor against the fence. Fodor was able to create space and land some knees, yet Getzel controlled the positioning. Late in the round Fodor managed to secure a takedown into side control, looking for an armlock at first until transitioning to a D'Arce choke. Getzel was unable to escape, submitting to the hold as the end of the first round neared.
The official time was 4:39 of round for the impressive victory for Caros Fodor.
