Wow, I picked Pitbull, but that was a ******* impressive finish! Shades of Mir-Nogueira 2!

Can someone explain to me what a technical decision is?  And why it always shows up under KO/TKO.

It happened in a Dominick Cruz fight once, I think it's when a fight cannot be continued due to an accidental mistake, so they make the judges score the fight earlier.

I think, don't take my word for it though.

@Anik Ah ok well that makes sense, thank you sir.  I was wondering because I saw it on Pitbull's record and the other day I saw it on someone else's record as well.

@Fresno, I'm guessing you mean technical submission, not decision because technical decisions do not show up under TKO, they show up under decision.  A technical submission is a TKO if it's a submission hold and you don't tap but, for instance your arm breaks.  The ref has to stop the bout and you didn't tap, so it'll register as a TKO even tho it says technical submission.  Similar to the exact opposite, submission (strikes), just happens less often.

@Fresno, exactly like AnikM says, this is the only time I've seen it either. It was this fight.

Why did they give Cruz the technical decision instead of a DQ though?

@lopati no the stream is still on. this is how they are doing it this season - prelims both before and after the main card.

they did it this way for a couple seasons, then they switched to having them all before the main card, and now again have switched it for season 6, for whatever reason.
