Jordan Leavitt at +200 is hysterical. Chase Hooper at -240 is even funnier. I really think that is a pick em fight. I actually think Leavitt has more paths and he is my pick on Tapology.

Coming from a big hooper hater I think this is a matchup he will look weirdly very good in. I’m shocked by the leavitt backers in all honesty; seen a lot of tickets on Twitter

@AyyLmaonnaise I think Hooper can win. No doubt about that. I just think there are aspects of his game, like catching fists with his face, that do not appeal to me. I think the UFC did a huge disservice to him and his development. They really should have given him more regional time. His striking defense is abhorrent.

See I do agree with that BUT I think the thing people are really overlooking here is the lack of striking from leavitt. Dude has no boxing at all & only throws leg kicks. Hooper can walk forward with his usual reckless abandon & won’t face any resistence back. Leavitt can’t deal with pressure at all but he hasn’t fought anyone who will walk him down and can keep that pace for 3 rounds. I think this is the one and only time in the yfc chase will have a striking advantage. It might look ugly as hell, but it’s more than can be said for leavitts striking

Leavitt also got tired against puelles due to the constant scrambling. Hooper pushes an insane pace & never settles in one position. I think this constant scrambling and gnp from hooper is going ti really tire out leavitt late. I know hooper can grapple hard for 15 minutes no problem but leavitt definitely can’t; he just accepted bottom position in round 3 against puelles. He wasn’t exhausted but he was tired & that pace was nothing close to the pace hooper pushes

@AyyLmaonnaise that's fair. I still think the lines are off and I do think that Leavitt, while definitely not Bernard Hopkins, is improving in the striking department. He is going to have to trust himself to go forward like he did the last fight and use that sneaky pop he has with his strikes. If he finds himself in another fight like he had with Trey Ogden, then he could find himself on the outside looking in with the judges. I don't like his low output either. I have just seen Chase disappoint as a considerable favorite too many times after a win to trust him here. That's just me but I definitely think he can win minutes and cause problems with his grappling. He's obviously skilled on the ground, even though I don't think he is some savant that others (not you) seem to think he is. But I do not doubt that Chase Hooper can win this fight. I simply do not trust him.

I think that after Hooper has seen what his better russian version has been able to do in the UFC so far, he will be full of confidence in himself and will push the pace for a Dec win.

He will think to himself " I'm the american Roman Kopylov goddammit I can't lose to this guy". And with this thought some of Roman's chadness will bleed over to him making him a better fighter.
