Just off the top of my head
R1&4 for Islam, R3&5 for Volk
I'll need to give that a rewatch *on mute* once I find the time. R2 is the toss-up and settling round, I think.

tepid55  That doesn't make him a hypetrain. Volk is legit as legit can be and he deserves all the credit that comes his way for taking this fight and perform the way he did

Having a competitive fight with arguably the most dominant fighter in the UFC right now isn’t failure.

Fighters should find a weight division and stay in it.  Holding 2 belts simultaneously shouldn't be allowed.

Yeah, you are dense if you have the simplistic view of “he lost the fight so his stock is down”. We could try to explain why this is a good look for Volk despite losing a close fight, but I’m afraid you’re too dull to understand.

I think it’s a cool thing in the moment to hold two belts, but I am in full agreement you should drop one right after so you aren’t holding up two divisions. Champions can’t fight enough yearly in order to have a simultaneous champ be okay in terms of sport progression.
Now if interim titles actually meant something, then maybe it would work. But they don’t.

The matchmaker has to have control.  If he doesn't, you get Conor McGregor thinking he is more important than the UFC.

Anyway there can't be a unanimous decision in that fight, so this is nonsense

1,2,4 Islam

3, 5 Volk

pretty clear UD

I think Islam underestimated Volk, second match he'd won clearly. His game plan with Xavier and Khabib was not like this. Just his ego to stand up with Volk. He could wrestle since round 1 and in R 4-5 Volk would be tired and choked

snakeinthegrassI think fighters should be eligible to fight for two belts if they want to move up a weightclass to fight for a belt. No fighters complained when Volk did it. So I don't see any reason why they should not allow it. There are plenty of fighters that switch between divisions without any complaints by other fighters. So why shouldn't a champ be able to do the same thing if they can make the weight?

In regards to defences: It has never been done and I don't see it happening anytime soon. Going back and forth to defend a belt of two different divisions simultaneously is simply a tough task and almost impossible. Otherwise it would've been done before already.

I think we are saying the same thing.
Yes fighters should be able to move weight classes.
When belts are on the line yes they should be able to win one belt while still having one in another division.
I dont think it’s possible to defend multiple belts in an efficient way. The simultaneous belt holder might after a month of time decide which belt to vacate and which belt to defend.
In a perfect world.

Islam was the only one gassing out here lol, if he wrestled the entire time with Volk getting up he'd be even more ******, did better in the stand up which is what probably won him the fight

snakeinthegrass  I thought you meant to say that you didn't like the idea of having double champs because they can't defend it.

Yes, agreed. In addition, organizations do it because fights like that sell. I haven't checked the post presser yet, but I'm pretty sure this card is among the highest PPV buys.
