I’m sorry guys but I don’t understand this narrative that Volk was robbed, it was a super close fight. Either way there was no shot it was a robbery, it sounds like people are salty about Islam remaining champ. **** is sad

Rewatched the fight. I go 49-46 Islam

Volk is the ******* man. What a performance, put the entire LW division to shame. Hope he can earn a rematch, would be interesting to see how both guys adjust. 

As for Islam, I still think his stock dropped after that. At first it looked like he wanted to stand with Volk to prove a point, then when he got him on the ground he sort of just toyed with him. Then as the fight kept going he saw that he couldn't put Volk away and Volk started gaining momentum. The tape of this fight will be studied from front to back repeatedly for years to come, entire teams out there will be working on drilling some contender or prospect into a perfect way to beat Islam's style. Khabib was never quite exposed and tested like this at the highest level, he always had room to keep improving. Islam has now reached the pinnacle, now he has to just constantly fight the best of the best. I feel like he inadvertently made his title reign more difficult for himself by showing all those weak points. 

Yair looked great, and it looks like all Emmett brought to the table is that overhand right - left hook. I really expected more from Emmett tbh, like a lot more. Anyways I don't see Yair having much of a chance against Volk unless he can set up some nice kicks, otherwise I think he gets beat up worse than Holloway or Zombie.

As for the rest of the card, I'm really disappointed in the UFC being such giant cheapskates and not giving every finish a bonus, they all deserved it. 

After his win last night and double champ status I think the only guy that beats Volk for natty GOAT is GSP, but yeah Volkanovski is the 2nd best fighter of all time.

It's not that islam did enough. The fact is that Volk Didn't. To take a championship you have to prove you are better and that wasn't the case here.

I agree even as a massive Volkonovski fanboy and even tho I thought Volk won the decsion, I have better thing to do then complain about a close ass fight, Only clear round was Volk round 5 and maybe one of the earlier rounds for Islam, But still it wasn't that clear

What annoys me is how many MMA fans don't know how to score MMA though, Justifying Islam won because he control Volk, I don't give a **** about control time, Control time isn't scoring, It's a means to score with ground and pound and subs, It's annoying how many people don't know that, 

Saying Islam won because he had better stikes and sub attempts in 3 of the 5 round make sence

You need look no further than Islams face after the bell to know who he thinks won.

There's no way Islam can be awarded round 4 if the scoring criteria is applied correctly. The back control via body triangle is dominant position but if you don't do anything with it you are controlling a position but not scoring anything. It's just gaurd from a back position. If you lay in gaurd and get 40 or more punches landed on your face while no offence of your own is present you lose that round.
The punches Volk lands obviously aren't "significant" but in absence of Islam producing any viable offence that could possibly meet scoring criteria the punches are the only thing scoring and the volume was significant.
If Islam came close to a choke you'd give him the round, but he didn't get close at all. He stalled the position and got his face punched repeatedly.

If that round was scored correctly Volk wins, so yes it's still a close fight but that round was objectively scored incorrectly - it's not a coin flip decision. Islam, by the criteria lost the round and therefore should not have been awarded the decision. That's a robbery.
