AJ McKee is being ridiculous.

Bellator pays him $250k. Does he deserve more? Maybe. But that's good money all things considered. Him expecting a million per fight? Lmfao. The UFC isn't giving him that either. ****, I'd be shocked if they even matched Bellator's $250k.

Bellator built AJ McKee perfectly. They brought him in as a literal zero and strategically built him into the fighter he is right now. To try and big dog them right now is pure insanity. He can complain about $250k, but he also has sponsor opportunities in Bellator he wouldn't have in the UFC. The potential to make money is there.

He isn't a big enough name to have such demands. Great fighter? Hell yes. But Pitbull is a bigger name than him by a wide margin despite just losing to McKee. Not sure where he's expecting to get with the demands. Assuming he's coming up with such insane numbers because he knows Bellator - for good reason - will never match his asking price. He also knows the UFC wouldn't come anywhere close to that either, but he'll go there to "challenge himself" for probably $100k less than what Bellator pays him.

Anyways, here's hoping Pitbull whoops him.

You are too kind bro, not sure that my picks and reads have been great lately, haven't had a lot of time for tape study.

I just feel that while AJ is really good he seems a little over confident, and Pitbull is no joke. He got caught last time and I just can't see that happening again. Like the Aljo/Yan fight (damn we really have to put up with Aljo as champion? He is insufferable!) I expect this fight will go very differently and I just feel Pitbull won't let it slip twice.

I think its a very close fight and if AJ wins this I will admit he is championship level even for the UFC but I am not convinced yet.

From what I've gathered, the million per fight is only for Bellator, he'd probably be happy enough in the UFC with a $300K offer or so for the potential PPV points and popularity. Bellator can't really compete with the earning potential of a championship caliber fighter as marketable as McKee, they don't have the brand recognizability nor the cash for it, it'll be a matter of if the UFC cares enough about AJ or not.

As far as the rematch goes, I honestly have a hard time seeing Pitbull win. Felt unsure heading into the first one, but still backed him given just how legendary his resume is, but McKee is just a nightmare matchup. Too much length on the feet, has already flashed the power to get to Pitbull and will get to dictate the pace in this fight.

Pitbull's current, patient style plays right into AJ's hands, and even if he decided to pressure, he risks running into a counter of someone that dwarfs him. Grounding him is his best bet, but that seems like a very unlikely scenario here.

I can see AJ kicking the butts of a good few UFC featherweights, he is really good. Can he beat the Great One? Not sure but he would give him a heck of a match

@TacoMike I agree he is getting nice paydays.... Its built in to always want more but he is doing really well to be getting 200K per fight from Bellator, then sponsors and all that. Could be doing alot worse.

Other than the champ and Holloway, I wonder where his pay is compared to other top 5 UFC featherweights. If it’s comparable, it makes you wonder if he really needs to move to the UFC right now.

Only way for this little fart to win is that AJ boxing careless and wild like he sometimes does and get tire in the late rounds.

Even tire, I think he can manage to get a decision win.

Pitbull only knock out bums that don't understand distance. AJ understand this and will fight like a Champ, waiting for this little man to come to counter him.

He rarely gets touch, and Pitbull boxing isn't that great, especially agains't taller opponents.

If AJ fight composed, he'll win either under 5 by or by decision. I can't see Pitbull knocking him out or winning a decision.

Maybe asking for a million is a negotiating tactic to get Bellator to give him a raise. Just like Bellator built him up, he is very important to Bellator. They need him to show that they can build prospects that are not only highly skilled but also popular. Asking for a million, makes the noise he needs to become more popular.

On the other hand, the way he talks in a interviews, maybe he really wants a million and nothing less.

Coker’s goal is to show that his roster can compete with the UFC roster. What takes Bellator to the next level is “homegrown” talent. McKee is the prime example of this. And you can find other Bellator prospects that are being brought up the same. McKee demonstrates to younger fighters that Bellator is a pathway to being considered the best in the world. The fact that Volk is being asked about McKee is a win for Coker and Bellator.

That being said McKee, probably with the help of his father who is an OG, realizes that Bellator doesn’t have his best interest at heart and needs to squeeze all the juice out of them ASAP. so he should ask for 2 million.

Well yeah but if his bjj was actually good (for mma standards) then he wouldn’t be 0-3 lol. He fights like every other gracie but doesn’t have the skill to properly implement his strengths

Rhalan did win the third round of his last fight via striking, rocked the other guy iirc. I'd honestly retire if I got hurt by an 0-2 Gracie on the feet tbh.

One of the best cards Bellator has put up to date. Looking forward to seeing Yagshimuradov in action again. Also hopefully Rhalan satisfies himself with one more outing and decides to just go back to the indie circuit because if he’s at the same level of his previous fights then Bellator is definitely not the place to stay.
