Crutchmer vs Lombardo

Predictions: 10 of 14 Winners, 2 Perfect, 595 Points   |   Tied for 769th

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't be surprised because it is Tapology, but I am a bit baffled that Kyle Crutchmer is as big of a favorite that he is on here.  So to get him out of the way, he is a bad ass wrestler that will be a problem getting people on the ground.  Anyone who was a D-1 wrestler, yet alone from Oklahoma State University, is going to be nasty with the wrestling.  The thing is that Lombardo is no slouch.  He is a legit BJJ black belt out of American Top Team in Florida. He has trained extensively with the likes of Edson Barboza and currently trains with the legendary Gabriel Procopio da Fonseca.  I am not saying he is definitely going to beat Crutchmer but he is going to be tricky on the ground, as he has a nasty arm triangle choke.  Aside from that, this guy kicks hard.  Like Chris Guttierez hard.  Anyone that stops a fight with leg kicks is something to note and he did that his last time out in a PFL fight.  I don't think Bellator brought him in as a scrub for Crutchmer.  This is going to be a tricky fight.

To be fair, Bowen is a quitter and not very good. I think he’s lost fights to leg kicks multiple times

Lombardo is a good fighter, but Crutchmer is far above Bowen and Kuppe (Lombardo's last opponents). Crutchmer lost to Lachinov because for some strange reason Crutchmer saw fit to close out the last round with a swang and bang against a granite-jawed Russian (and only use striking during the whole fight). If he sticks to his strategy of using high level wrestling he can rise up the rankings. Lombardo can make it difficult for Crutchmer, but I think Crutchmer should win by a clear margin in a competitive fight.

Honestly, I think Crutchmer will just roll here. He's a stronger wrestler with suffocating top control, and Lombardo isn't good off his back. I expect it to be another extremely boring showing from Kyle, he'll be a nice parlay piece though.

I disagree on Gaston/Carey being pointless, I'm sure Bolaños wants to get that loss back. Still surprised Bellator didn't release him to be honest, he's been a bust so far. Nice highlights, but it's clear he's not very good.

I'm a bit biased towards Nemkov since I've kept an eye on him since the lead up to his Rizin debut, but I think he'll crush Corey here. The power is on his side, durability should be also, and he's done nothing but fight beastly wrestlers in the last few years. He already added the names of Davis and Bader to his resume, and I don't see anything from Anderson that would lead me to believe he doesn't do the same here.

His line will probably inflate though, so if you're looking to back Corey here, you'll probably get more bang for your buck around weigh-in time.

Pitbull could still win for sure. I don't think the first fight is indicative of his level.

With that said, I've been on the McKee train for years and I won't be getting off any time soon. I think dude has crazy potential and he could get some work down in the ufc.

I think this one may go to a decision, but I see McKee winning either way; I think it'll be more competitive this time around with AJ rallying for the tko.

Corey could pull it off but I'd stay away from that fight tbh. I favor Nemkov to win, but there's a great chance that Corey upsets him. Though at the same time, when Nemkov is on, he's a killer. He's very well-rounded, and he's sharp. He makes lazy mistakes here and there, but knowing how good Corey is, I don't think we'll see such issues from his side.

Man, I get Crutchmer being the favorite is one thing (which I agree he should be a slight favorite here).  But for him to win over 8/10 times in this match up... I don't agree with that.  He has one path to victory:  Wrestle ****.

He's not a bad fighter at all.  And I don't think this is a set up fight for Crutchmer... like 5 or 6 of the other fights on this card haha.

At the end of the day, the pick is Crutchmer for me (with slight confidence).  The issue is I get nervous about fighters that are looking to go to the judges.
