In a disappointing follow-up to two of the best events in promotional history, WEC 33 featured one title fight in the form of Brian Stann’s Light Heavyweight Championship victory over Doug Marshall. A middleweight title bout between champion Paulo Filho and challenger Chael Sonnen was originally expected for the card, but the troubled Filho was unable to compete.
