Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

true dat, he is the most talented player I've seen in my lifetime. Sorry Peter Forsberg, but it's not even a contest.

I'm not saying he's bad, he is great, I just don't believe him to be 'leaps and bounds better' than everyone else, otherwise they would be Cup Champs every year. Maybe leaps and bounds better than 4th liners, but he's up there with the rest of the greats in the league.

And like I said, he's surrounded by guys with great talent, which doesn't hurt.

I would disagree that he is leaps and bounds above everyone else. But he certainly is the best in the game today.

@CaptainSuperman " otherwise they would be Cup Champs every year." In a 30 team league, he went to the finals in back-to-back years. Name me one player that carried his team to the Stanley Cup year after year. Like, a 30 team league.

And the surrounded-by-guys-with-great-talent argument is invalid, his rookie season (as an 18 year old by the way) on a 58 point team, he scored 102 points. He also obviously makes everyone around him better, look at Pascal Dupuis.

And he's been doing it for a longer time and at a younger age. Again, it's no contest. Crosby's number 1 to 3, and then it's everyone else.

Crosby is much more of a complete player than Malkin..I would argue he could win every single individual award possible, pretty sure you can't say the same thing about Malkin.  I mean there was talk he would move to the wing at the start of this season because Crosby and Staal were the better centermen

Hey let's not start underestimating Malkin now.

Malkin's an elite goal scorer, an elite passer, he plays like a Russian Mario Lemieux (physicality mixed with amazing hands) and he's responsible in the defense zone. He's the best player in the league not named Sidney Crosby.

I would agree with that, I would take Crosby on my team over him for sure but Malkin over Stamkos and Ovechkin

Personally, I'd take Stamkos because he's the most durable from the three of the them, he plays the safest style from the three of them, and he's the youngest from the three of them.

Ovechkin is my favorite current player. But he has really declined over the last few years, hes doing okay this season. But he could be doing alot better.

That's where I think everyone's wrong.

Ovechkin's suffering statistically because his TEAM's suffering statistically. Ovechkin gets the majority of his assists from rebounds, the guy has 36 goals and 27 assists. He's producing like he did last year, his team is not capitalizing though. That's the problem.

It's this new style of hockey that the Caps play, ******* with their stats. Ovechkin's still a top 10 player, he's just not the biggest fantasy player anymore.

After Crosby, its too hard for me too say who is 2nd. Stamkos, Malkin, Datsyuk, and Ovechkin all deserve to be in the talk.

All I know is that Philly and Pittsburg is going to be one hell of a series.  I stand behind my home team, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins to go all the way again.  The skill is insurmountable in this post-season.  I don't like making predictions so I'll just sit back and have a blast whilst watching the raw talent that the Stanley Cup Playoffs constantly produces.  Hope everyone enjoys!
