Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

I think his presence along will make an impact, Pittsburgh will win and eventually over take NYR for first

What's the over/under of how many games he'll play before he gets injured again?

Probably 3.  As much as I love Sid, and hope he comes back as good as he was, I really think he is gun shy and won't be the same again.  Even if he isn't gun shy and has no problem performing up to the level he did before, I'm just not sure about his chin.  One solid shot and its over.  With that said, I had a dream last night that he scored in his first game back :-)

I'm calling it right now; Crosby will never be the same. he will turn into Eric Lindros. Lindros was one of the best players ever, but his career was riddled with concussion problems. Just think about it; all it takes is one more big hit. Its kind of like someones chin, after you get KO'd your chin becomes less durable, and the exact same principle goes with concussions. Once you get a concussion you are much more susceptible to them. On another note, lets talk about surprises of the year.

First off, yes bias, Ottawa Senators. this was supposed to be our rebuild year, but now we have the 4th point scorer in Jason Spezza and the leading Norris trophy candidate, Erik Karlsson. We are also 2 points behind 2 place in the E-Div.

Second, the Los Angelas Kings. I had picked them as a West favorite out of the gate. What do you guys assert their problems too? Carter, Richards, Brown, Doughty, Quick.. how is this not a Div leading team?

Does Ken Hitch**** win the Jack Adams? Like the Blues were bad, and in an insidious way at the beginning of the season, and look at them now, 1st in the NHL.

Yeah, I can't freakin stand the guy, but I don't think he'll ever be the same. And @Nik, you must be very pleased with Karlsson. After seeing him as a rookie, i knew he'd become a great player.

Blues and Sens are definitely the biggest surprises as over achievers..the other end would for sure be the Kings and the Sharks

To compare every D-man to Erik Karlsson: Erik Karlsson has MORE ASSISTS than the D-Man with the 2nd most points.

I'm pretty happy I took Karlsson and Pietrangelo in my draft, 2 of the top 3 in the league amongst D-Men. Personally, I think Pietrangelo is much stronger defensively but much like Mike Green's wins in the past, Karlsson will win the Norris due to the sheer dominance offensively.

aahah yeah, and its not like its even close. He has like 10 more assists than everyone else does points. Not counting his 18 goals.

the blues are definitely the biggest surprise for me, and the fact the flames aren't in first. I mean really?  But on a serious note, how far do you see the blues going in the playoffs?  I don't think they will last long.  And where will the Canucks decide to choke this year?  Conference finals or at the Cup again?  I also love this time of year when 8th place is such a toss up, its ******* awesome!

Even then, I look older than Erik Karlsson.

I've been calling for the Canadiens to tank a season to get a high draft pick in God knows how long, but from all the times they choose to tank, they pick one of the worst draft classes of this millenium.

I mean c'mon, the consensus number 1 overall is a guy who's already had two major injuries this year (one of which is a concussion), the consensus number 2 overall is a lazy Russian (and the Canadiens have had their fair share of lazy Russians), the consensus number 3 overall is at most a top 4 D-Man in the NHL and the consensus number 4 is a speedy Swede with everything but a scoring touch.

Gee, I can't wait.

agreed along with the Av's i'm also a Habs fan and I'm not excited at all with pretty much any of the top "prospects" on the flip side the Av's picked a good draft to trade their pick for Varlamov, seems like people are finally coming around and seeing they didn't get a bad deal at all
