Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

Even though I'm pretty sure it's forbidden...I like the Avalanche. Good young team with some great talent up front, and plenty of speed. Too bad Hejduk is a slipping star, 4th line? Ouch

I don't really have the hatred i used to have against them anymore. If it were 1997, then yeah, i'd say that's forbidden lol

Haha, for sure. I remember when we beat them in the playoffs back then, I was still a kid and only somewhat into hockey, but man I was into singing that stupid hey hey hey goodbye song! And just a week or so ago, everyone was reposting the brawl on Facebook for it's anniversary. Good times!

I'm with you guys the rivalry isnt as good as it once was for sure, We need a Claude Lemieux or Darren McCarty type to get it back on!!

Eh, it seems the only rivalries there are these days are restricted to the Playoffs.

God i hated Claude Lemieux...i give him credit though, i guess he did an interview along with McCarty where he said he deserved what he got. At my house, we have a picture signed by McCarty himself beating the crap out of a turtled Lemieux...good times, good times

looks like some playoff matches are set.. what do you guys think.

(2) Boston Bruins VS (7) Ottawa Senators - I have Ottawa, obviously.
(3) Florida Panthers VS (6) New Jersey Devils -  I have Devils
(4) Pittsburgh Penguins VS (5) Philadelphia Flyers - best Playoff matchup, I am really rooting for Philly here.

Washington or Buffalo may make 8th, kind of up in the air, but more than likely itl be (1) New York Rangers vs (8) Washington Capitals - I got Rangers here in another great series.

Nothing is set in the West as per usual.

I cannot wait for Pittsburgh/Philly. That is going to be crazy, i think. Rooting for the Flyers, obviously. And Florida's not that great, i won't be shocked if they lose. Ottawa has a shot in their series too.

Hmm. There's another team the Wings fans are suppose to hate, the Penguins. Their not a team I root for, at all, but without Cindy, I don't mind them. And they have traded away some of their key guys who got them to the cup in 09.

But as for those matchups that Nik listed, I got Bruins, Panthers, and yes, the Flyers.

"Cindy" Crosby is leaps and bounds better than anyone else in the NHL.

Malkin is proving to be a better player, if not just as good as Cindy. Also, Pavel Datsyuk? The Sedin's? Come on now. Crosby is, or was, amazing, but no better or worse than any of the other top NHL stars. Though yes, it is a shame to see how his injury has affected him in his return.

Leaps and bounds smh

Malkin is no where near as good as Sydney Crosby, I'm sorry.

Like its not even close. Are you insane???? Datsyuk is a great, so are the sedin twins but they are not on Crosby's level. When Crosby is healthy he makes other NHL Stars look stupid.

Crosby already has 31 points in less than 21 games, in a season full of concussions.... Syndey Crosby is the only guy to win the Art Ross at 19 years old. Sydney Crosby is averaging more points per game then anyone else active in the NHL. Crosby has had a 84 assist season, and a 50 goal season. Crosby has a stanley cup. Do you watch crosby play? this guy is the best.

I could say the same about the players I just listed! I just think it doesn't hurt the he's been surrounded by great talent on the Penguins. And come on, in Crosby's absence, Malkin really stepped his game up leading the team. Yeah, they aren't sitting pretty like they were in 09 going into the Playoffs, but with the injuries, they've done well for themselves

How many 5 point games does Malkin have this year?

@CaptainSuperman dude, did you watch any Penguins games in 2006-07? Crosby had as much 6+ points games as Malkin. I remember, he was like 20th in the league in scoring around the 50 game mark and Jagr was leading the league in points. And then he had like 13 points in 2 games and **** closed down fast. This was Crosby at 19 by the way.

I'm sorry but there's no way any of the players you listed are at Crosby's level. No ******* way. It's NOT EVEN A COMPETITION (like @Nik Lust said), like you can't consider yourself to be a hockey fan if you don't see how much better Crosby is compared to the rest of the league.

He's a penalty killer, a powerplay specialist, has amazing vision, he can puckhandle, he's an elite scorer, he's an elite passer, he's powerful, he's responsible, he's a good leader, he's clutch, he's fast and he's not even 25 yet.

Not even a ******* contest.

He is seriously the best NHL player since Lemieux. He doesnt get 200 points, thats because goalies know how to stop a puck these days
